2018 Meeting De Paris
The 2018 Meeting de Paris was the 24th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Paris, France. Held on 30 June 2018 at the Stade Sébastien Charléty, it was the seventh leg of the 2018 IAAF Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. Seven world-leading performances were set, including Qatari Abderrahman Samba's Asian record time of 46.98 seconds in the men's 400 metres hurdles and Caster Semenya's 1:54.25 minutes for the women's 800 metres. Both these were meeting records, as were Mariya Lasitskene's 2.04 m in the women's high jump and Sandra Perković's 68.60 m in the women's discus throw. Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser also set an Asian record to win the women's 400 metres, with 49.55. The discus throw (), also known as disc throw, is a track and field event in which an athlete throws a heavy disk (mathematics), disc—called a discus—in an attempt to mark a farther distance than their competitors. Charles Cheboi Simotwo (born 6 May 1995) is a Kenyan middle distance runner. On 6 July 2017 at the Athletissima Diamond League meeting at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise, in Lausanne he ran 1500m in 3:32.59 as he finished second behind Aman Wote for a new personal best which would ultimately place him inside the top 10 worldwide in the year. In 2019, Charles Simotwo injured a leg in a traffic accident that forced him to undergo surgery. He won the 1500m on the 19 June 2021 at the Kenyan Olympic trials to secure his place at the delayed 2020 Summer Games. Ayanleh Souleiman (born 3 December 1992), also known as ''Hassan Ayanleh'' ( so, Xasan Ayaanle Saleebaan) is a Djiboutian middle distance runner who specialises in the 1500 metres. He is the Djiboutian record holder for the distance, with his best of 3:29.58 minutes, as well as being the 3000 metres holder with 7:42.22 minutes. Timothy Cheruiyot
Timothy Cheruiyot (born 20 November 1995) is a Kenyan middle-distance runner specialising in the 1500 metres. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medallist in the event. At the World Athletics Championships, Cheruiyot won the silver medal in 2017 in London, and a gold in 2019 in Doha. He took the silver medal in his specialty event at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games, and is also a two-time African Championship silver medallist from 2016 and 2018. Jeff Demps
Jeffery Barnard Demps (born January 8, 1990) is an American track and field athlete and former American football running back. He attended the University of Florida, where he was a running back for the Florida Gators football team and a sprinter for the Florida Gators track and field team. He is the only Florida Gator athlete to have won national championships in two sports with his 2009 BCS National Championship and multiple indoor and outdoor track titles over his four-year career. Arthur Gue Cissé (born 29 December 1996) is an Ivorian professional sprinter specializing in the sprints. He owns the Ivorian national records in the 60 m, 100 m, 150 m, and 200 m distances, including a sub-10 second time of 9.93 s in the 100 m. Mike Rodgers
Michael Rodgers (born April 24, 1985) is an American professional track and field sprinter who specializes in the 100 m and the 60 m. He won the gold medal in the 100m relay in Doha 2019. He is also the Pan-Am Games Champion. Career Rodgers attended Berkeley High School in St. Louis, Missouri where he ran varsity track and played varsity basketball for the Bulldogs. Later attended Lindenwood University and Oklahoma Baptist University where he was a 10-time NAIA national champion from 2005 to 2007. Rodgers still holds the NAIA Indoor 60m record with a 6.65. Akani Simbine (born 21 September 1993) is a South African sprinter specialising in the 100 metres event. He was fifth at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's 100 metres and was the 100 metres African record holder with a time of 9.84 seconds set in July 2021 until broken by Ferdinand Omurwa in September 2021. Jimmy Vicaut (born 27 February 1992 in Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis) is a French sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres.
