2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Men's High Jump
The men's high jump at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place at Arena Birmingham in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 1 March 2018. The reigning outdoor world champion, Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar, led the field of eleven entries that year with his jump of , set while winning the Asian indoor title. Arena Birmingham (known for sponsorship reasons as Utilita Arena Birmingham, and previously as The Barclaycard Arena and originally as the National Indoor Arena) is an indoor arena and sporting venue in central Birmingham, United Kingdom. It is owned by parent company the NEC Group. When it was opened in 1991, it was the largest indoor arena in the UK. The arena was renamed Utilita Arena Birmingham on 15 April 2020. 2017 World Championships In Athletics – Men's High Jump
The men's high jump at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium on 11 and 13 August. Summary After winning Olympic gold, then setting the world decathlon best in the high jump, defending champion Derek Drouin (CAN) could not return due to a nagging injury. Olympic silver medalist Mutaz Essa Barshim (BHR) was perfect through the automatic qualifier in the preliminaries and up to 2.29 m in the final. Danil Lysenko, competing as an Authorised Neutral Athlete and Majd Eddin Ghazal (SYR), who trains in war ravaged Damascus both cleared with one miss. Robbie Grabarz
Robert Karl Grabarz (born 3 October 1987) is a retired British high jumper. Active during the 2010s, with his greatest success coming in two periods between 2012 and 2017. He was the 2012 European champion, the 2012 Diamond League high jump champion and won a shared silver medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics, which was upgraded from bronze after disqualification of the original winner, Ivan Ukhov of Russia, for doping in 2021. He failed to figure at the sharp end internationally in 2014 and 2015, but between 2016 and 2017 Grabarz had a significant return to form, as he won World and European silver medals indoors, and European outdoors silver as well as finishing 4th at the 2016 Summer Olympics.and 6th at the 2017 World Championships. IAAF World Indoor Championships In Athletics
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. They have been held every two years except for when they were held in consecutive years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate the need for them to be held in alternate years to the main World Athletics Championships (outdoors) in the future.
