The 2018 French Open (officially known as the Yonex French Open 2018 for sponsorship reasons) was a badminton tournament which took place at Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris, France, from 23 to 28 October 2018 and had a total prize of $750,000. Stade Pierre De Coubertin (Paris)
The Stade Pierre de Coubertin ( French for Pierre de Coubertin Stadium) is an indoor arena that is located in Paris, France. It is the home venue of the Paris Saint-Germain Handball team. Currently, the arena has a seating capacity of 4,200 people for basketball games. History Stade Pierre de Coubertin was opened in 1937, for the Universal Exposition, and it was rebuilt after bombing that occurred during the Second World War. The stadium was used as a detention centre during the Paris massacre of 1961. BWF World Ranking
The BWF World Ranking is the official ranking of the Badminton World Federation for badminton players who participate in tournaments sanctioned by Badminton World Federation. It is used to determine the qualification for the World Championships and Summer Olympic Games, as well as BWF World Tour tournaments. Seedings of draws at all BWF-sanctioned tournaments are conducted using the BWF World Ranking. Players under 19 years of age are eligible to rank in the BWF World Junior Ranking, which were introduced in January 2011. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (; born October 20, 1996) is an Indonesian badminton player. He first rose to prominence when he won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. At the 2020 Olympics, he won bronze in the men's singles event. He became the first Youth Olympic badminton medalist to win a medal at the Olympics, having also won bronze in 2014. Son Wan-ho (Hangul: 손완호; or ; born 17 May 1988) is a South Korean badminton player. He reached a career high as world number 1 in the men's singles in May 2017. Viktor Axelsen (born 4 January 1994) is a Danish badminton player. He is the 2017 and 2022 World champion and the 2020 Olympic champion. He won the 2010 World Junior Championships, beating South Korea's Kang Ji-wook in the final to become the first ever European singles player to hold the title.
