2018 Brisbane Darts Masters
The 2018 Brisbane Darts Masters was the inaugural staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation, as a sixth and final entry in the 2018 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured 16 players (eight PDC players facing eight regional qualifiers) and was held at the BCEC in Brisbane from 17–19 August 2018. Rob Cross became the inaugural champion in Brisbane, after defeating Michael van Gerwen 11–6 in the final. Prize money The total prize fund was £60,000. Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is a convention centre in Brisbane, Australia. It is located in South Brisbane and occupies most of the block formed by Grey Street, Melbourne Street, Merivale Street, and Glenelg Street. The centre is owned by South Bank Corporation and managed by ASM Global. History Designed by COX Architecture, the BCEC was constructed by Leighton Contractors, beginning in March 1993 with the demolition of World Expo Park. The building cost $170 million and was mostly funded by the Queensland Government's sale of a casino license, with the remainder funded directly by the government. Kyle Anderson (darts Player)
Noel James Kyle Anderson (14 September 1987 – 24 August 2021) was an Australian professional darts player who played within the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from 2012 to 2021. He won the 2017 Auckland Darts Masters tournament. Career He started playing darts at the age of six and had competed in tournaments since he was nine. He first became interested in the game watching his father play. Anderson was an Aboriginal man of Noongar origin. Anderson qualified for the 2013 PDC World Darts Championship by winning the Oceanic Masters. He lost to Steve Beaton 3–0 in the first round after he missed two opportunities to take each of the opening two sets. Anderson dominated in the DPA's 2013 Australian Grand Prix season by winning seven events to top the Order of Merit. World Series Of Darts
The World Series of Darts is a series of darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. Beginning in 2013, the World Series has comprised between two and seven tournaments across the world, where a mixture of the top-ranked PDC players take on local qualifiers in a knockout format. Since 2015, there has been a finals tournament held annually in November at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, although in 2018, it moved to the Multiversum Schwechat in Vienna, Austria, and moved again to the AFAS Live in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2019, then to the Salzburgarena, Salzburg in 2020. Justin Thompson (born 8 January 1969) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Career A veteran of the DPA circuit, he won the WDF Asia-Pacific Cup Singles in 2016, plus the Geelong Classic. Gordon Mathers
Gordon Glen Mathers (born 29 September 1981) is a professional Australian darts player. He currently plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. In 2017 he finished top of the DPA Australian Pro Tour ranking table, and made his World Championship debut in the 2018 event. In the preliminary round he faced Japanese Seigo Asada, to whom he lost 1-2 in sets. In 2018, Mathers continued playing in Australia on the DPA circuit, winning a tournament in Hobart and making it to the final on two other occasions. Damon Heta (born 10 August 1987) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the Brisbane Darts Masters in 2019 and also, in pair with Simon Whitlock, World Cup of Darts in 2022. His nickname is "The Heat", a play on letters within his surname. Corey Patrick Cadby (born 18 March 1995) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He was the 2016 World Youth champion. Career A native of Tasmania, Cadby began competing in Darts Players Australia (DPA) events in 2016 after relocating to Melbourne.
