2017–18 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series
The 2017–18 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament that took place in January 2018 in the United Arab Emirates. It was a tri-nation series between Ireland, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates, with all the matches played as One Day Internationals (ODIs). The matches were in preparation for the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which was held in Zimbabwe in March 2018. Ireland won the series after winning all four of their matches, finishing with a 24-run victory against Scotland. Scotland and the United Arab Emirates won one match each, both finishing with two points, with Scotland finishing in second place on net run rate. The United Arab Emirates (UAE; ar, اَلْإِمَارَات الْعَرَبِيَة الْمُتَحِدَة ), or simply the Emirates ( ar, الِْإمَارَات ), is a country in Western Asia (The Middle East). Net Run Rate
Net run rate (NRR) is a statistical method used in analysing teamwork and/or performance in cricket. It is the most commonly used method of ranking teams with equal points in limited overs league competitions, similar to goal difference in football. The NRR in a single game is the average runs per over that team scores, minus the average runs per over that is scored against them. The NRR in a tournament is the average runs per over that a team scores across the whole tournament, minus the average runs per over that is scored against them across the whole tournament. This is the same as the weighted average of the run rates scored in each match (weighted by the lengths of the innings batted compared to the other innings batted), minus the weighted average of the run rates conceded in each match (weighted by the lengths of the innings bowled compared to the other innings bowled). Richie Berrington
Richard Douglas Berrington (born 3 April 1987) is a Scottish cricketer. He played for Scotland in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka, and has since played first-class, One Day International, and List A cricket for Scotland. In June 2022, Berrington was named as the captain of the national team, after Kyle Coetzer stepped down from leading the side. Early life and youth career Berrington was born in Pretoria, South Africa, but he emigrated to Scotland as a child. Gary Craig Wilson (born 5 February 1986) is a former Irish cricketer, who is a wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman. He played for Ireland in Tests, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals, with his first appearance for the national side coming in 2005. Paul Robert Stirling (born 3 September 1990) is an Irish cricketer. Stirling is the opening batsman for the Ireland cricket team and an occasional right arm off break bowler. Boyd Rankin
William Boyd Rankin (born 5 July 1984) is a Northern Irish former cricketer who played international cricket for Ireland, and briefly also played for England. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He is the brother of fellow cricketer David Rankin. Born in Derry, Rankin is a tall bowler who stands at 6 ft 8 inches and has a distinctive bouncing action in his bowling.
