Simi Singh
Simranjit "Simi" Singh (born 4 February 1987) is an Indian born Irish cricketer. In December 2018, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis. Domestic and T20 career Singh made his List A debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup on 1 May 2017. Singh made his Twenty20 cricket debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy on 26 May 2017. He made his first-class debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Championship on 5 June 2017. 2017 Inter-Provincial Championship
The 2017 Inter-Provincial Championship was the fifth edition of the Inter-Provincial Championship, a first-class cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 30 May to 7 September 2017. It was the first edition of the competition to be played with first-class status, following the outcome of a meeting by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in October 2016. The Ireland cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates in January 2021 to play four One Day International (ODI) matches between 8 and 18 January 2021. The matches served as preparation for Ireland's World Cup Super League fixtures against Afghanistan in the UAE. In the first fixture, the UAE won by six wickets to record their first win against Ireland in an ODI match. The second match of the series was originally scheduled to take place on 10 January 2021. However, following a positive test for COVID-19 within the UAE team, the match was rescheduled for 16 January 2021. Two UAE cricketers had also tested positive ahead of the first ODI match. Originally due to take place in September 2020, the schedule for the series was rearranged due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The term "behind closed doors" is used in several sports, to describe matches played where spectators are not allowed in the stadium to watch. The reasons for this may include punishment for a team found guilty of a certain act in the past, stadium safety problems, public health concerns, or to prevent potentially dangerous clashes between rival supporters. In football, it is predicated by articles 7, 12 and 24 of FIFA's disciplinary code. Crowdless games are a rare occurrence in professional sports. When they do occur, it is usually the result of events beyond the control of the teams or fans, such as weather-related concerns, public health concerns, or wider civil disturbances unrelated to the game. 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier
The 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament held during October and November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates to determine which teams would qualify for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The six teams finishing highest in the qualifier tournament joined Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first group stage of the 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The 2018 Netherlands Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament, that took place in June 2018 in the Netherlands. It was a tri-nation series between Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland, with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The intention is that the tri-series will become an annual event between the three teams. Prior to the series, Scotland played two T20I matches against Pakistan, while Ireland used the matches as preparation for their matches against India, that took place later in June. 2017 Ireland Tri-Nation Series
The 2017 Ireland Tri-Nation Series was a One Day International cricket tournament that took place in Ireland in May 2017. It was a tri-nation series between Ireland, Bangladesh and New Zealand. The matches were in preparation for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, which took place in June 2017 in England and Wales. Cricket Ireland announced the full fixtures in July 2016. Ahead of the ODI fixtures, Ireland played two warm-up matches; a 50-over match against Bangladesh and a 25-over match against New Zealand.
