The 2017–18 Iraq Division One. Al-Karkh and Erbil secured the two promotion spots for the 2018–19 Iraqi Premier League, with Al-Karkh being the champions due to having more points than Erbil in the final stage. The final round started on 8 August 2018 and finished on 20 August 2018. Format Teams from all over Iraq participated in preliminary qualifications for the final stage, which consisted of 12 teams split into two groups. The winners of the two groups would be promoted. Iraq Division One
The Iraq Division One is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Premier League. The league is contested by 24 clubs. It is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Division One are automatically promoted to the Premier League. The four lowest-finishing teams in the Division One are relegated to Division Two. The number of clubs in the league have changed throughout history, most recently in the 2021–22 season when the number of clubs decreased from 28 to 24. It has previously been called the Division Two but has been known as the Division One since 2003. In the 2021–22 season, Al-Hudood won the title and were promoted alongside runners-up Karbalaa. 2017 Iraqi Super Cup
The 2017 Iraqi Super Cup was the 8th edition of the Iraqi Super Cup, and the first since the competition's name was changed from ''Iraqi Perseverance Cup'' to ''Iraqi Super Cup''. The match was contested between the Baghdad rivals, Al-Zawraa and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, at Karbalaa International Stadium in Karbalaa. It was played on 17 November 2017 as a curtain-raiser to the 2017–18 season. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya made their 5th appearance in the Super Cup while Al-Zawraa extended their record to 6 appearances. The 2017–18 Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز 2017–18) was the 44th season of the Iraqi Premier League, the highest division for Iraqi association football clubs, since its establishment in 1974. The season started on 20 November 2017, and ended on 18 July 2018. Al-Zawraa won a record 14th title, finishing four points ahead of both the previous season's champions and runners-up (Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Al-Naft respectively) and five points ahead of Al-Shorta. Afak Sports Club ( ar, نادي عفك), is an Iraqi football club based in Afak, Al-Qādisiyyah. The team competes in the Iraq Division One. Al-Karkh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الكرخ الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Karkh, Baghdad. Its professional football team plays in the Iraqi Premier League, the top tier of the Iraqi football. The club's home stadium is Al-Saher Ahmed Radhi Stadium.
