Al-Nasiriya Sports Club ( ar, الناصرية), often simply known as Al-Nasiriya SC, is an Iraqi football team based in An Nasiriyah, Dhi Qar Governorate. The club plays in the Iraq Division One and was founded on 21 October 1961. An Nasiriyah FC is nicknamed Sons of Sumer ( ar, احفاد سومر). Sumer () is the earliest known civilization in the historical region of southern Mesopotamia (south-central Iraq), emerging during the Chalcolithic and early Bronze Ages between the sixth and fifth millennium BC. The Iraq Division One is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Premier League. The league is contested by 24 clubs. It is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Division One are automatically promoted to the Premier League. The four lowest-finishing teams in the Division One are relegated to Division Two. 2021–22 Iraq Division One
The 2021–22 Iraq Division One will be the 48th season of the Iraq Division One, the second tier of the Iraqi football league system since its establishment in 1974. The number of clubs in the league have varied throughout history for various reasons; in this season the number of clubs has been reduced from 28 teams to 24. The top two teams are directly promoted to the Iraqi Premier League, while the bottom 4 teams in each group are directly relegated to the Iraq Division Two. The season is scheduled to start on 12 October 2021, while the summer transfer window began on August 1 and ended on midnight on September 19. Nasiriyah ( ar, ٱلنَّاصِرِيَّة; BGN: ''An Nāşirīyah''; also spelled ''Nassiriya'' or ''Nasiriya'') is a city in Iraq. It is on the lower Euphrates, about south-southeast of Baghdad, near the ruins of the ancient city of Ur. It is the capital of the Dhi Qar Governorate. Ahmed Daham Karim
Ahmed Daham Karim (12 October 1967 – 29 December 2021) was an Iraqi football manager and player who played as a midfielder. He represented the Iraq national team in the 1996 Asian Cup. Coaching career Daham signed for the Naft Maysan in August of the 2018–19 season, after Uday Ismail left. He led the team through good results and a very good season. He achieved fifth place in the league, six points behind third place. In the Iraqi Cup, the team went through the quarter final and was knocked out by Al-Talaba SC. Daham reached agreement with the board to stay for another season after long negotiations. Personal life and death Daham died from a heart attack on 29 December 2021, at the age of 54.
