2017–18 Glasgow Warriors Season
The 2017–18 season saw Glasgow Warriors compete in the competitions: the Guinness Pro14 and the European Champions Cup. Season overview League expansion With the addition of two South African sides, the Pro12 expanded to become the Pro14 for season 2017–18. The format of the league changed to accommodate the extra teams. It was split into two conferences and matches played in a conference system with the addition of 2 derby fixtures. The play-off system also changed with the winners of the conferences hosting a Semi-Final and each conference runners up and 3rd place teams playing off in Quarter-Final fixtures. For the Pro14's inaugural season, Glasgow Warriors were placed in a conference with the Ospreys, Cardiff Blues, Munster, Connacht, Zebre and Cheetahs. New coach, new captain Dave Rennie was installed as new Head Coach in August 2017. One of his first decisions was to scrap the co-captaincy enjoyed by Jonny Gray and Henry Pyrgos. Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. In the 2014–15 season they won the Pro12 title and became the first Scottish team to win a major trophy in rugby union's professional era. The side is known for its fast, dynamic and attacking style of play, using offloads and quick rucks. Defensively the club prides itself on its 'Fortress Scotstoun' where the club play at home. Jonny Gray
Jonathan Douglas Gray (born 14 March 1994) is a Scotland national rugby union team, Scotland international rugby union player. He plays at Rugby union positions#Locks, lock for Exeter Chiefs in Premiership Rugby. James Malcolm (rugby Union)
James Malcolm (born 23 September 1994 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays for the Seattle Seawolves of Major League Rugby (MLR). He previously played for the Glasgow Warriors at the hooker or prop positions. Fraser James Macgregor Brown (born 20 June 1989) is a Scotland international rugby union player. He currently plays for Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship. Alastair 'Al' David Kellock (born 14 June 1981) is the managing director at Glasgow Warriors. He is a former Scotland international rugby union player. John Manson
John Manson (born 22 June 1968) is a retired Scottish international rugby union footballer who played with the Caledonia Reds and Glasgow Warriors, two of Scotland's first professional rugby teams. Phil Healey
Phil Healey is a rugby union strength and conditioning coach with the Blues in Auckland, having previously been with Glasgow Warriors. He joined the Glasgow side for the 2017–18 season. Before he was with Glasgow he was previously a strength and conditioning coach for the Chiefs in New Zealand. Rugby union coaching career Healey was the head strength and conditioning coach for Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union from 2003 until 2008. Mike Blair
Michael Robert Leighton Blair (born 20 April 1981) is a Scottish rugby union coach who was formerly a professional player. He is the head coach of Edinburgh. He played at scrum-half for Glasgow Warriors, Newcastle Falcons, CA Brive and Edinburgh Rugby. Jason O'Halloran
Jason David O'Halloran (born 28 February 1972 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand) is an All Black cap and rugby union coach. He is now the Assistant Coach at Suntory Sungoliath.
