2017–18 Bobsleigh World Cup
The 2017–18 Bobsleigh World Cup was a multi-race series over a season for bobsleigh. The season started on 9 November 2017 in Lake Placid, USA and ended on 21 January 2018 in Königssee The Königssee is a natural lake in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border. Justin Kripps
Justin Kripps (born January 6, 1987) is a Canadian Bobsleigh, bobsledder and an Olympic champion in two-man bobsleigh following his gold medal win at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang County, Pyeongchang, South Korea. Kripps won a silver medal in the two-man event at the FIBT World Championships 2017, 2017 World Championships and a bronze in the mixed team event at the FIBT World Championships 2012, 2012 World Championships. He has competed in the sport since 2006 and has many World Cup podiums. During the 2017–18 Bobsleigh World Cup, he finished the season first in the two-man and overall, to win the Crystal Globe as overall champion. Carlo Valdes
Carlo Valdes (born February 11, 1990) is an American bobsledder. He competed in the four-man event at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Valdes graduated from UCLA in 2013 with a B.A. in History. At UCLA, he played wide receiver in football until his transition to track and field, where he competed as a decathlete. He mainly competed in Javelin for the rest of his time at UCLA. Francesco Friedrich
Francesco Friedrich (born 2 May 1990) is a German bobsledder who has been active since 2006. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, he and his brakeman Thorsten Margis tied with Canada's Justin Kripps and Alexander Kopacz for the gold medal in the two-man competition. Friedrich also won gold outright in the four-man event alongside Margis, Candy Bauer and Martin Grothkopp, making Friedrich the fifth German pilot to win two-man and four-man golds at the same Games, after Andreas Ostler in 1952, Meinhard Nehmer in 1976, Wolfgang Hoppe in 1984 and André Lange in 2006. Daumants Dreiškens (born 28 March 1984) is a Latvian bobsledder, brakeman, who has competed since 2003. He won a gold medal in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships 2016 in Igls, Austria with pilot Oskars Melbārdis, Arvis Vilkaste and Jānis Strenga. It was the first ever World Championships gold medal in bobsled for Latvia. Oskars Melbārdis (born 16 February 1988) is a former Latvian bobsledder who has competed since 2006. He is the most successful bobsledder in the history of his country, having won one gold and two bronze Olympic medals. He also earned the first-ever gold medal for Latvia at World Championships in Igls, preceded by one silver and two bronze medals in 2009-2015. Neville Wright (born 21 December 1980) is a Canadians, Canadian Bobsleigh, bobsledder. Wright competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver in the Bobsleigh at the 2010 Winter Olympics – Four-man, four-man competition, finishing fifth. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Wright was a sprinter with the Alberta Golden Bears where his performance attracted the attention of Canadian bobsleigh officials. Evan Weinstock (born October 30, 1991) is an American Olympic bobsledder. Early life Weinstock was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father, Arnold Weinstock, is Jewish. His mother was not. He told ''Jewish Sports Review'' that he was raised without a faith, but he had no problem being identified as a Jewish athlete. Justin Bradley Olsen (born April 16, 1987) is an American bobsledder who has competed since 2008. He won two medals at the 2009 FIBT World Championships in Lake Placid, New York, with a gold in the four-man and a bronze in the mixed team events.
