2017 World Archery Championships
The 2017 World Archery Championships was the 49th edition of the event. It was held in Mexico City, Mexico from 15 to 22 October 2017 and was organised by World Archery Federation (formerly known as FITA). Qualification and elimination rounds took place at the Campo Marte. The competition was preceded by the World Archery Federation Congress on 13–14 October. The programme featured was the same as previous World Championships, with individual, team, and mixed team events in the Compound bow, compound and Recurve bow, recurve disciplines. David Pasqualucci (born 27 June 1996) is an Italian competitive archer. He won a silver medal in the men's team recurve at the 2015 World Championships, and also competed as a member of Italy's archery squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He currently trains under the tutelage of his coaches Fabio Pivari and Wietse van Alten, a Sydney 2000 Olympian from the Netherlands, for the Italian team, while shooting at the Tempio di Diana Archery Range ( it, Arcieri del Tempio di Diana) in Rome. Mauro Nespoli (born 22 November 1987, in Voghera) is an Italian archer who was a member of the Italian teams that won gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics and silver at the 2008 Summer Olympics. and individual silver at Tokyo 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Marco Galiazzo (born 7 May 1983, in Padova) is an athlete from Italy. He competes in archery for C.S. Aeronautica Militare, and is a former world number one. He was the first Olympic champion in the Italian archery history, winner of the gold medal in men's individual competition at Olympic Games – Athens 2004 and gold medal in team competition at the Olympic Games – London 2012 (in the same event he won silver at the Olympic Games – Beijing 2008). Tan Ya-ting (; born 7 November 1993) is an archer who represents Chinese Taipei. She is a three-time Olympian, having participated at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics and the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Chang Hye-jin ( ko, 장혜진; or ; born 13 May 1987) is a South Korean former recurve archer. A two-time Olympic gold medalist, Chang was the Olympic champion in both the women's individual and women's team events at 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She is also a former number one-ranked recurve archer, having headed the World Archery Rankings between 2017 and 2019. After being introduced to archery at the age of eleven, Chang made her international debut in 2008. Steve Wijler (born 19 September 1996) is a Dutch archer competing in men's recurve events. He won the bronze medal in the men's individual recurve event at the 2017 World Archery Championships held in Mexico City, Mexico.
