2017 Team Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2017 Team Speedway Junior World Championship was the 13th FIM Team Under-21 World Championship season. The final took place on 2 September, 2017 in Rybnik, Poland. Hosts Poland won their tenth Team Under-21 World Championship, and their fourth in succession. The Poles accumulated 47 points, with Bartosz Smektała top scoring for them with 14 points. Australia finished second with 37 points, with Denmark in third on 27. Team Speedway Junior World Championship
The Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship is a speedway competition to determine the World Championship for national Under-21 teams. The sport's equivalent of the Under-21 World Cup in football, as of 2022 the title is awarded to the winners of SON2, the Under-21 division of the Speedway of Nations. The first edition of the competition was in 2005 prior to its incorporation with the Speedway of Nations. Poland has dominated the competition winning the title record 15 times. Previous winners Classification Rules Eligibility The minimum age limit (16 years) starts on the date of the rider's birthday and the maximum age limit (21 years) finishes at the end of the year in which they reach 21 years old. Josh Pickering
Joshua Pickering (born 30 November 1996) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Australia. Career He began his British speedway career riding for Edinburgh in 2017. He began his Championship average at the assessed 5.00 and completed the season with the fifth-highest average of 4.62. By the end of the 2019 season, despite a mid-season injury at Birmingham, his average for the Monarchs was past his assessed average and had reached 6.98. Pickering, however, criticized the Championship league structure as unfair on riders from other countries due to its reduction in their number of matches completed by each team. While still riding for the Monarchs in the Championship in mid-2021, the Sheffield Tigers signed Pickering for their Premiership team. The 2017 Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the seventeenth and the last FIM Speedway World Cup, the annual international speedway world championship tournament. Daniel Bewley (born 10 May 1999) is a British international speedway rider. Career Bewley started riding for the Belle Vue Colts and as a reserve for the Edinburgh Monarchs in 2017. In 2017, he won the National League Riders' Championship before being promoted to the senior side ( Belle Vue Aces) in 2017. The same year he won the 2017 Conference League Riders' Championship. Josh Bates (born 1 February 1996) is a British speedway rider. Early career Born in Barnsley, Bates had never been on any type of motorbike until the beginning of 2010, when he got his first 125cc speedway bike. After a few months of practicing on this he was ready for a 250cc, which he got in June 2010. After a few more months of practice he entered the 2011 250cc British Championship, where he finished 4th overall. As well as competing in the British championship he rode in the amateur summer championship at Scunthorpe which he won and he also competed in the 250cc world championship in Sweden. Career In January 2012, he started riding a 500cc for the first time, soon after he was offered a team place by the Mildenhall Fen Tigers. Speedway career Lyager joined Scunthorpe Scorpions for the 2015 Premier League speedway season and 2016 Premier League speedway season.
