Daniel Bewley
Daniel Bewley (born 10 May 1999) is a British international speedway rider. Career Bewley started riding for the Belle Vue Colts and as a reserve for the Edinburgh Monarchs in 2017. In 2017, he won the National League Riders' Championship before being promoted to the senior side ( Belle Vue Aces) in 2017. The same year he won the 2017 Conference League Riders' Championship. In 2018, he finished runner-up to Robert Lambert in the British Speedway Championship, won the British Under-19 Final and claimed a third place in the second round of the World Under 21 Championship series in Poland. In 2020, Bewley won the British Speedway Under 21 Championship and became a member of the British Speedway team. In 2021, he finished runner-up again in the 2021 British Speedway Championship. In 2021, he became a world champion after Great Britain secured the 2021 Speedway of Nations (the world team title). In August 2022, Bewley won back-to-back SGPs in Cardiff and Wroclaw. 2020 Speedway Of Nations
The 2020 Speedway of Nations (sponsored by Monster Energy) was the third FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition was scheduled to consist of a two-legged final but was reduced to a single leg because of heavy rain on the opening day. The Speedway of Nations normally also includes a semi-final stage, which was due to be run in Latvia in September. The semi-final was cancelled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the top seven nations from the 2019 Speedway of Nations were seeded direct to the final. Germany withdrew from the competition, and were replaced by the Czech Republic. The final was originally scheduled to be staged on 24 and 25 October 2020 at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester. but was rescheduled and held in Lublin on 17 October due to increased COVID-19 restrictions in the United Kingdom. SGB Premiership 2023
The 2023 Sports Insure SGB Premiership is the 88th season of the top tier of British speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Premiership. There was an increase of one team after the Leicester Lions opted to move up from the SGB Championship. 2023 summary Seven clubs will compete for the league championship, with Leicester Lions joining the from the division below. Each club will race against each other four times (home and away twice), meaning a total of 24 fixtures each. The 'Super Heat' scoring system was retained from the 2022 season, however extra points for away fixtures have been scrapped in favour of an aggregate bonus point. The top four teams in the league will qualify for the playoffs, with the two semi-final winners then reaching the Grand Final. The 2022 Swedish Speedway season was the 2022 season of speedway in Sweden. Smederna won the Elitserien and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. The 2023 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 29th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 78th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the second series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. Bartosz Zmarzlik was the defending champion, having won the 2022 title. Zmarzlik successfully retained the title, winning a fourth championship, despite being disqualified from round nine in Denmark. He beat Fredrik Lindgren by eight points, with Martin Vaculík securing the bronze medal. During the championships, Zmarzlik secured four Grand Prix wins after the Latvian Grand Prix, which equalled the 22 career Grand Prix wins of fellow Pole Tomasz Gollob. He then went on to win a fifth Grand Prix, which equalled the all-time record of 23 held by Jason Crump. The 2022 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 28th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 77th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the first series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. Artem Laguta was the reigning champion, having won the 2021 title. However, due to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, he and Emil Sayfutdinov did not return as all Russian and Belarusian riders had been suspended and were barred from participating any FIM-sanctioned events. Speedway World Championship
The World Championship of Speedway is an international competition between the highest-ranked motorcycle speedway riders of the world, run under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The first official championships were held in 1936. Today, this official FIM championship is organised as a series of Speedway Grand Prix events, where points are awarded according to performance in the event and tallied up at the end of each season. The 2022 British Speedway Championship was the 62nd edition of the British Speedway Championship. Summary The final was held at the National Speedway Stadium and was won by Dan Bewley. The original date for the competition had been 1 August but bad weather forced the cancellation of the event after 12 heats.
