2017 São Tomé Second Division
The 2017 São Tomé (Island or Regional) Second Division was a third their competition that took place that season. The club had 10 clubs, the competition began on 21 May and finished on 13 November. Geographically almost all clubs but Ribeira Peixe and Guadalupe were from the Northeast. Sporting São Tomé won the title at RSSSF and will participate into the Premier Division in the following season, alongside second placed . São Tomé Island League is the top division of the São Toméan Football Federation for the São Tomé Island. The champion competes at the national championships each year. History Before independence, it was the only regional competition in the nation. It was the sole competition in the country and was acted as a national competition until 1985 when the Príncipe League were founded. From 1986 to 1988, 1991, 1992 and 1994 to 1997 as the other island's competitions were not held, the island champions were also national champions.
