2017 South Africa Sevens
The 2017 South Africa Sevens was the second tournament within the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series and the nineteenth edition of the South Africa Sevens. It was held over the weekend of 9–10 December 2017 at Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. Format The teams were drawn into four pools of four teams each. Each team played every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the Cup brackets where teams competed for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. The bottom two teams from each group went to the playoffs in the Challenge Trophy brackets. 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series
The 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series, known for sponsorship reasons as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, was the 19th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national men's rugby sevens teams. Eroni Sau
Eroni Sau (born 5 February 1990), nicknamed "The Sledgehammer", is a Fijian rugby union player currently playing for the Fijian Drua in Super Rugby Early life and career Sau hails from the village of Nabukeru Yasawa and attended Yasawa High School before he moved to Lautoka to finish his Year 13 at Ba Provincial Freebird Institute where he was introduced to play Rugby league, He joined Saru Dragons and was given a contract to play in the Cook Islands. Later he met Lagilagi Golea (FNRL development officer), who urged him to join a 7s team and contacted Red Rock Rugby Club coach, the late Lote Rasiga. The 2018 Sydney Sevens was the third tournament within the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series and the fifteenth edition of the Australia Sevens, of which the third to be held in Sydney. It was held over the weekend of 26–28 January 2018 at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia. Format The teams were drawn into four pools of four teams each, with each team playing every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the Cup/5th place brackets. Philippus Albertus Borman Snyman (born 26 March 1987) is a South African rugby union footballer. He is the current captain of South Africa's National Rugby 7s Team, Blitzbokke. Hughes was named captain of the United States national team at the start of the 2014 Sevens World Series, shortly after the appointment of new head coach Mike Friday.
