2017 Shanghai Darts Masters
The 2017 Shanghai Darts Masters was the second staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation, as a second entry in the 2017 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured eight Asian players who faced eight PDC players and was held at the Pullman Hotel Shanghai South in Shanghai, China from 6–7 July 2017. Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion, and he retained his title by beating Dave Chisnall 8–0 in the final. Prize money The total prize fund was £60,000. Qualifiers Eight PDC players – the top eight from the 2017 Premier League – were initially invited. Adrian Lewis subsequently pulled out and was replaced by Gerwyn Price, meaning that the eight players invited were the same as had been invited for the previous World Series event, the 2017 Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters. James Wade
James Martin Wade (born 6 April 1983) is an English professional darts player, currently playing in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He became the youngest player to win a major PDC title, when he won the 2007 World Matchplay at the age of 24. This record has since been broken by Michael van Gerwen. Wade has won eleven PDC majors, third in the all-time list behind Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen. He is widely considered one of the best left handed darts players of all time. Wade has also won the World Grand Prix in 2007 and 2010, the UK Open in 2008, 2011 and 2021, the Premier League in 2009, the Championship League in 2010, the Masters in 2014, the European Championship and the World Series of Darts Finals in 2018. Zong Xiao Chen (; born 8 March 1998) is a Chinese professional darts player from Dandong who currently plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a first winner of the China Premier League. He represented China for two time at the PDC World Darts Championship. Royden Lam
Royden Lam (Chinese:林鼎智; born 8 September 1975) is a darts player from Hong Kong. Career Royden Lam is best known as a soft tip darts player but also plays steel tip darts. In 2009 he won the Hong Kong Open by beating Liu Cheng from China in the final. In 2010, he lost in the final of the Japan Open to Kyle Anderson and in the quarter-finals of the Asia Pacific Cup to Morihiro Hashimoto. In 2011, he almost managed to qualify for the PDC World Championship, but was defeated by Scott MacKenzie 4–3 in the final of the Chinese qualifier. In 2013, Lam registered for PDC Qualifying School and earned a Tour Card on the final day. Haruki Muramatsu
Haruki Muramatsu (村松 治樹; born 15 April 1977) is a Japanese darts player. Career Muramatsu qualified for the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship. He defeated Poland's Krzysztof Kciuk 4–1 in the preliminary round, but lost 3–0 to Ronnie Baxter in the first round. He qualified for his second PDC World Championship in 2012, where he beat Dennis Nilsson 4–2 in legs in the preliminary round to set up a last 64 meeting with 15-time world champion, Phil Taylor. He was beaten 0-3 but did manage to win three legs during the match, including breaking Taylor's throw twice. Paul Lim Leong Hwa (born 25 January 1954) is a Singaporean professional darts player. He was the first player to hit a perfect nine-dart finish during the Embassy World Darts Championship, which he achieved in 1990 during his second round match against Jack McKenna. Lim won £52,000 for his nine-darter, which was £28,000 more than Phil Taylor won for winning the tournament. His nine-darter remained the only nine-dart game to have been achieved in either version of the world championships, until Raymond van Barneveld hit one against Jelle Klaasen in the quarter-final of the 2009 PDC World Darts Championship.
