The 2017 Seattle Sounders FC 2 season is the club's third year of existence, and their third season in the United Soccer League, the second tier of the United States Soccer Pyramid. Including previous Seattle Sounders franchises, this is the 37th season of a soccer team playing in the Seattle metro area. Tacoma Defiance, formerly Seattle Sounders FC 2, is an American professional Association football, soccer team based in Tacoma, Washington, Tacoma, Washington (state), Washington, U.S. that competes in the MLS Next Pro, the third tier of the United States soccer league system, national soccer pyramid, as the Farm team, reserve team of Seattle Sounders FC. The Defiance is operated by The Baseball Club of Tacoma (operator/owner of the Tacoma Rainiers) and managed by Seattle Sounders FC, while 20 percent of the club is fan-owned through the Non-profit organization, non-profit Sounders Community Trust. The club was established in 2014 as Seattle Sounders FC 2 (S2) and originally played at Starfire Sports in Tukwila, Washington. Brian Nana-Sinkam
Brian Nana-Sinkam (born December 31, 1994) is an American soccer player who played for Seattle Sounders FC 2 in the USL. Career Nana-Sinkam spent his youth career with PA Classics from 2009 to 2013 before signing a letter of intent to play college soccer at Stanford University. He made a total of 71 appearances for the Cardinal and finished his career with one goal and two assists. He also played in the Premier Development League for Burlingame Dragons FC. On January 13, 2017, Nana-Sinkam was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Seattle Sounders FC. However, he did not make the final cut in preseason. Neco Jeborie Brett (born 22 March 1992) is a Jamaican footballer who plays as a forward for USL Championship club Birmingham Legion. Club career Brett began his career in Jamaica with Harbour View and Portmore United before moving to the United States to play college soccer at Robert Morris University. Rennico Clarke (born 26 August 1995) is a Jamaican footballer who last played for Charleston Battery in the USL Championship. Career Professional Clarke began his professional career with Harbour View. He made seven appearances and scored one goal for the club before joining USL expansion side Portland Timbers 2 on 19 February 2015. Lamar DeShawn Batista (born March 7, 1998) is an American soccer player who currently plays for North Carolina FC in USL Championship. Career College Batista spent one season playing college soccer at the UC Santa Barbara in 2016. Professional Batista signed with the United Soccer League side Portland Timbers 2 in March 2017. On February 21, 2019, Batista signed with Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer. Ray Saari (born April 18, 1995) is a former American soccer player. Early life Saari was raised in the Kansas City area and attended Oak Park High School. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 15 and underwent several months of chemotherapy before returning to the high school's soccer team. Career College Saari spent his entire college career at the University of Tulsa. He was a starter all four years. He made a total of 69 appearances, and tallied 12 goals and 12 assists. Portland Timbers 2 is an American professional soccer team based in Portland, Oregon. The team, often referred to as "T2", serves as the reserve squad for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer (MLS).
