2017 Scheldeprijs
The 2017 Scheldeprijs was the 105th edition of the Scheldeprijs road cycling one day race, held on 5 April 2017 as part of the 2017 UCI Europe Tour, as a 1.HC categorised race. The event was noted for being the last official race of Belgian cyclist Tom Boonen on Belgian soil; as such, the race started in Boonen's home town of Mol instead of its usual start in Antwerp, but finished as customary in Schoten. German rider Marcel Kittel of won the event for the fifth time in a bunch sprint, further extending his race record; he finished ahead of Italian Elia Viviani () and French sprinter Nacer Bouhanni from the team. Teams Twenty-two teams were invited to take part in the race. These included fourteen UCI WorldTeams and eight UCI Professional Continental teams. 2017 UCI Europe Tour
The 2017 UCI Europe Tour was the thirteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2017 season began on 26 January 2017 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 17 October 2017 with the Nationale Sluitingsprijs. Belgium, Belgian rider Baptiste Planckaert (), who scored 1,605 points in the 2016 UCI Europe Tour, 2016 edition, was the defending champion of the UCI Europe Tour. Nacer Bouhanni () won the overall standings for the second time in three years; won the team classification, while France won both the overall nations' title and the under-23 equivalent. Race structure Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. Ramon Sinkeldam (born 9 February 1989) is a Dutch cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Amateur career Born in Wormer, Sinkeldam rode for the for his entire amateur career, between 2007 and 2011. During this time, he won the Paris–Roubaix Espoirs race in 2011, as well as winning the 2011 Ronde van Limburg and the national under-23 road race championships in 2011, having finished second in the two previous years. In his youth Sinkeldam was also active in mountain biking and in cyclocross. Professional career Sinkeldam turned professional for the 2012 season, joining the team.
