Premier Volleyball League
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league. Since 2011, the league became open to participation of corporate clubs and other non-collegiate teams. The Spikers' Turf has served as the men's counterpart of the league. History Shakey's V-League (2004–2016) The Premier Volleyball League was established in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. led by Jun Bernardino, Ricky Palou, Moying Martelino, and Rhea Navarro who were businessmen previously known for being men's basketball patrons. The Shakey's V-League was initially an inter-collegiate women's league with teams from the UAAP, NCAA, CESAFI among others playing in the league. Melissa Gohing
Melissa "Mel" Gohing-Nacino (born October 22, 1991) is a Filipino volleyball athlete. She is playing for the Creamline Cool Smashers in the Premier Volleyball League. Personal life Born in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, to a family of Filipino, Chinese and Spanish ancestry. She's the third among five kids, has one brother and three sisters. Early in her childhood, she already exhibited signs of being a fashionista. Her mom said, when she was in preschool, she always wants to wear footwear that matches her dress (it must be color coordinated). She attended preschool in Tay Tung High School. She transferred to Hope Christian High School during her elementary years, where she joined the Chinese folk dance troupe and street dance group. She studied at De La Salle University for college. The VNS Volleyball Club Griffins (originally, the Volleyball Never Stops Volleyball Club) are a professional men's volleyball team in the Philippines playing the Spikers' Turf. It previously played under various sponsorships. History Volleyball Never Stops or VNS was established in 2013 by a group of team captains who played volleyball either at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) or the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a means to be still able to play competitive volleyball even after they graduated from college. Instituto Estetico Manila Phoenix Volley Masters
The Instituto Estetico Manila Volley Masters are a professional men's volleyball team playing in various tournaments, including the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) and the Spikers' Turf. The team is owned by Instituto Estetico Manila, a dental and dermatological clinic. In 2014, the team joined the Philippine Super Liga in its 2014 All-Filipino Conference. This was followed by its participation in the inaugural men's tournament of the Shakey's V-League, where it emerged as that league's first men's champion. History Cosmetic surgeon Reyvic Cerilles established a women's volleyball team in 2001 which took part in the two-woman tournament Club 650. Beach Volleyball Republic, Inc. (BVR) is an organization aimed for the development and growth of beach volleyball in the Philippines formed in June 2015. History Co-founded by former Ateneo Lady Eagles volleybelles and current professional players Charo Soriano, Gretchen Ho, Fille Cainglet, Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, Dzi Gervacio and Bea Tan. Alyja Daphne "Jaja" Antonio Santiago (born January 20, 1996) is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for Saitama Ageo Medics of the Japan's V.League. Personal life Santiago was born on January 20, 1996, the fourth of five siblings.
