2017 Portugal Open
The 2017 Dynamic Portugal Open, was the second Euro Tour 9-Ball pool event in 2017. The event was won by Netherlands' Nick van den Berg who defeated Spain's David Alcaide 9–5 in the final. In winning the event, van den Berg won his tenth Euro Tour event. The event was the last tournament in the European qualification for the 2017 World Games. David Alcaide and Joshua Filler qualified as first and second place of the one-year ranking of the Euro Tour, and competed at the Nine-ball at the 2017 World Games – men's singles, 9-Ball men's event. The Games were won by Carlo Biado, with Filler losing in the last 16, and Alcaide in the quarter-finals. Tournament format The event saw a total of 194 players compete, in a double-elimination knockout tournament, until the last 32 stage; where the tournament was contested as single elimination. Mark Gray (born 16 August 1973) is an English professional Pool (cue sports), pool player and former professional snooker player. Snooker career Born in 1973, Gray turned professional in 1992. He made little progress in any tournament until the 1997/1998 season, when he reached the last 64 at the German Open - losing 1–5 to Karl Broughton - the last 48 at the Thailand Masters, where Chris Small whitewashed him 5–0, and later made his first appearance in the last 32 at a ranking event, in the 1998 British Open. There, he defeated Jimmy Michie 5–3 and Jimmy White 5–4, but lost 3–5 to Dominic Dale. Ralf Souquet ( ; born 29 November 1968) is a German professional pool player. His nickname is "The Kaiser". Since 1988, he has won more than 200 tournament titles, including 23 Euro Tour titles, 20 European Pool Championship and 12 German Pool Championship. Roman Hybler
Roman Hybler (born 27 December 1977 in Liberec, Czech Republic) is a Czech professional pool player. Hybler is most well known for winning the ''2002 German Open'' Euro Tour event. Career Hybler took up pool aged 12. His first club was the ''PBC Woodstock Germering''; later he moved to ''PBC Olympics Munich'', for which he won several titles at the German Junior Championships. In 2001, Hybler entered his first international tournament, as a part of the Euro Tour, and a year later won his only Tour championship, the ''2002 German Open'', defeating Klaus Zobrekis in the final. The same year, Hybler also entered his first world championship, the 2002 WPA World Nine-ball Championship reaching the knockout round, finishing 33rd. Marco Teutscher
Marco Teutscher (born 1 February 1992) is a professional Dutch pool player. Career Teutscher began playing in 2007, and would enter the youth European Pool Championships the same year. His best finish at these competitions was the reaching the quarter finals, doing so in 2008 at the 9-Ball event as well 2009 in the straight pool and 2010 in the 10-Ball. In 2010, Teutscher played in the men's competition for the first time, however, he wouldn't reach the later stages until 2012. Radosław Babica
Radosław Babica (Born 18 July 1979) is Polish professional pool player from Kielce, who reached number 12 in the World Pool-Billiard Association world rankings in 2009. Career Babica final reached the European Pool Championships final of the 9-Ball event in 2007. He later also reached the final in the 10-Ball event and three more semi-final appearances at European Championships (one each in the 8-Ball, 9-ball and 14/1 endless). Wiktor Zieliński
Wiktor Zieliński (born 11 January 2001) is a Polish professional pool player. He is the youngest player to ever win a Euro Tour event, winning the 2017 Treviso Open at the age of 16. Career Zielinski began playing pool at aged 8 in 2009, and in 2013 entered his first competition, the Junior European championships. Zielinski played his first men's event in 2015, at the 2015 Italian Open. The following season, he won his first European championship.
