2017 Lunar New Year Cup
The 91st 2017 Lunar New Year Cup is the annual edition of the Lunar New Year Cup, held in Hong Kong to celebrate the Lunar New Year in late January 2017. This year, four teams were invited to participate, playing two games each in a knockout tournament. Australia under-23 withdrew before the tournament and were replaced by Auckland City. Teams Four teams were invited to participate: Australia under-23 were initially scheduled to participate, however, Football Federation Australia withdrew the side following complaints from A-League clubs about losing players mid-season. Hong Kong Stadium
Hong Kong Stadium is the main sports venue of Hong Kong. Redeveloped from the old Government Stadium, it reopened as Hong Kong Stadium in March 1994. It has a maximum seating capacity of 40,000, including 18,260 at the main level, 3,173 at executive level, 18,510 upper-level seats and 57 seats for wheelchair users. The stadium is located in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island, in valley of Caroline Hill. Most international football matches held in Hong Kong are held at this stadium. Wang Zhenpeng (footballer)
Wang Zhenpeng (, born 5 May 1984) is a Chinese-born Hong Kong professional footballer who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Hong Kong Premier League club Kitchee. Club career Dalian Shide Wang Zhenpeng started his professional football career in 2002 when he was promoted to the senior team of top tier Chinese side Dalian Shide. Throughout the season he was used as a third choice goalkeeper and did not see any playing time, however he did see his side win the 2002 league title that season and did pick up a medal. Li Ngai Hoi (; born 15 October 1994) is a Hong Kong professional footballer who currently plays as a centre back. Early career Li was a student of Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School and is under their youth football academy scheme with Kitchee. He also plays for the school's football team. Lo Kwan Yee (, born 9 October 1984) is a Hong Kong professional footballer who currently plays for Hong Kong Premier League club Rangers. Lo has represented Hong Kong at international level at various age groups, making his debut with the senior national team in 2007. Alessandro Ferreira Leonardo (born 10 March 1987), commonly known as Sandro (), is a Brazilian-born Hong Kong professional football player who is currently a free agent.
