2017 Kremlin Cup
The 2017 Kremlin Cup (also known as the 2017 VTB Kremlin Cup for sponsorship reasons) was a tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the 28th edition of the Kremlin Cup for the men and the 22nd edition for the women. The tournament was part of the ATP World Tour 250 Series of the 2017 ATP World Tour, and of the Premier Series of the 2017 WTA Tour. It was held at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia, from 16 October through 22 October 2017. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. Albert Ramos Viñolas (; born 17 January 1988) is a Spanish professional tennis player. He is currently ranked in the top 40 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), and has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 17, achieved by reaching the final of the 2017 Monte Carlo Masters. Lukáš Rosol (; born 24 July 1985) is a Czech professional tennis player. He competes on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ATP Tour, both in singles and doubles. Rosol was coached by former Czech player, 1999 US Open quarterfinalist Ctislav Doseděl. His career-high singles ranking is world No. 26, achieved on 22 September 2014. His first notable victory was against world No. 8, Jürgen Melzer, at the 2011 French Open, whom he defeated in five sets in the second round a year after Melzer had reached the semifinal. Mirza Bašić (; born 12 July 1991) is a Bosnian professional tennis player. He has won one ATP singles title and is a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Davis Cup team. Ričardas Berankis (; born June 21, 1990) is a Lithuanian professional tennis player. He is the first and only Lithuanian citizen (not counting Lithuanian American Vitas Gerulaitis) to enter the ATP top 50 rankings, making him the highest ranked Lithuanian tennis player of all time.
