Polifórum Benito Juárez
The Polifórum Benito Juárez a 5,800-seat indoor arena in Cancún, Quintana Roo, was built in just 128 days in 2008. It was built as the home of the Pioneros de Quintana Roo basketball team. The arena was built of reinforced concrete in order to withstand hurricanes that may come through the Yucatán Peninsula. It can also serve a shelter in case of a natural disaster. In addition to serving as home of the Pioneros and as a shelter for natural disasters, the Polifórum is also used for concerts, other sporting events, and other special events. It is also unusual in that its center-hung scoreboard does not include video screens, a must for most new arenas in the 21st century. There are 2,200 permanent seats. The arena cost 98 million pesos to build. The arena can seat up to 6,000 for concerts. The arena's lighting equipment was installed especially for large-scale TV transmission. Philip Awiti-Alcaraz (born 13 August 1993) is a British judoka. Early life Awiti-Alcaraz was born in Enfield, Greater London to a Kenyan father and a Mexican mother. His sister Prisca, brothers Joshua, Samy and Micheal, and cousins all joined Enfield Judo Club. On a scholarship, Awiti-Alcaraz pursued a Bachelor of Science in Sports Coaching Practice at the University of Wolverhampton. Benjamin Karl Fletcher (born 13 March 1992) is a former British and now Irish judoka. Judo career As a junior, Fletcher won bronze at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Cape Town. He is a three times champion of Great Britain, winning the half-heavyweight division at the British Judo Championships in 2013, 2014 and 2016. Victor Rodrigues Penalber de Oliveira (born 22 May 1990) is a Brazilian judoka. Career Penalber started to practice judo at the age of four. He studied and trained at Universidade Gama Filho, and today trains at the Instituto Reação, created by the ex-judoka Flávio Canto. He is left handed and his preferred technique is seoi-nage. His first success was the gold medal at the 2008 Pan American Judo Championships at the 73 kg class; he won again in 2013 in the 81 kg class.
