2017 UCI Europe Tour
The 2017 UCI Europe Tour was the thirteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2017 season began on 26 January 2017 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 17 October 2017 with the Nationale Sluitingsprijs. Belgium, Belgian rider Baptiste Planckaert (), who scored 1,605 points in the 2016 UCI Europe Tour, 2016 edition, was the defending champion of the UCI Europe Tour. Nacer Bouhanni () won the overall standings for the second time in three years; won the team classification, while France won both the overall nations' title and the under-23 equivalent. Race structure Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. Kristoffer Halvorsen (born 13 April 1996) is a Norwegian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Career On 13 October 2016, Halvorsen won the Men's under-23 road race in the 2016 UCI Road World Championships. 2018 Halvorsen signed for after two seasons with the Norwegian continental team . Halvorsen was due to make his debut, in the Tour Down Under, leading his new team in the sprints. However, on 14 January, Halvorsen crashed at the People's Choice Classic, fracturing his hand and thereby ruling him out of the Tour Down Under. On 16 March, he came in second at the Handzame Classic. Adam Blythe
Adam Michael Blythe (born 1 October 1989) is an English former professional road and track racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2010 and 2019 for the , , , , and teams. Blythe began racing at a young age and went on to become a member of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme. Amateur career Born in Sheffield, Blythe began cycling at a young age with the Sheffield Phoenix club. Cycling was a family activity, his sister Kimberley Blythe was also fairly successful as a young rider. Blythe became Derbyshire's Junior Sportsman of the Year in the East Midlands Sports Personality of the Year Awards, 2005. Blythe left British Cycling's Academy Programme by mutual consent in February 2008, and went to race in Belgium. He stayed with the ex-professional cyclist, Tim Harris, in Westmeerbeek, near Antwerp. The Bredene Koksijde Classic, previously Handzame Classic, is a European single day cycle race held in the Belgian region of Flanders, starting in Bredene and finishing in Koksijde. Having been a part of the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen from 2002 to 2010, race organisers decided to run the race as a single-day race from 2011 and organized as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour The UCI Continental Circuits are a series of road bicycle racing competitions which were introduced in 2005 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to expand cycling around the world. The five circuits (representing the continents of Africa, the ..., raised to 1.HC status from 2018. The finish race previously known as ''Handzame Classic'', but was renamed following a decision from the organisers to move the finish from Handzame to Koksijde.
