2017 Detroit Lions Season
The 2017 season was the Detroit Lions' 88th in the National Football League (NFL), their 84th as the Detroit Lions, and their fourth and final season under head coach Jim Caldwell. The Lions finished with a 9–7 record, the same record they had in 2016, but unlike the previous year, failed to qualify for the playoffs. After starting the season 3–1, they lost 6 of their next 12 games. They were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in week 16 following their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite missing the playoffs, the Lions recorded consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 1994–1995. They also won all of their division road games for the first time ever and swept their division rival Green Bay Packers for the first time since 1991. NFC North
The National Football Conference – Northern Division or NFC North is one of the four divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Nicknamed the "Black and Blue Division" for the rough and tough rivalry games between the teams, it currently has four members: the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings. The NFC North was previously known as the NFC Central from 1970 to 2001. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were previously members, from 1977, one year after they joined the league as an expansion team, until 2002 when they moved to the NFC South. 2022 Detroit Lions Season
The 2022 season was the Detroit Lions' 93rd in the National Football League (NFL), the 21st playing their home games at Ford Field and their second under the head coach/general manager tandem of Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes. On March 28, NFL Films and HBO announced that the Lions would be featured in the newest season of '' Hard Knocks'', a show that follows NFL teams through training camp. After a 1–6 start, the Lions had a mid-season turnaround, winning eight of their next ten games. The Lions finished the season 9–8, improving upon their 3–13–1 record from the previous season. John Matthew Stafford (born February 7, 1988) is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. Tim Wright (American Football)
Timothy Wright (born April 7, 1990) is a former American football tight end. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He played college football at Rutgers, where he subsequently opened a barbershop in 2016. He grew up in Neptune, New Jersey. He went to Green Grove Elementary School. Cornelius Lucas (born July 18, 1991) is an American football offensive tackle for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). Armonty Charles Bryant (born May 20, 1990) is a former American football defensive end. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft. In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away. Don Muhlbach
Donald Lynn Muhlbach Jr. (born August 17, 1981) is a former American football long snapper. At the time of his retirement, he was the oldest active player in the NFL other than Tom Brady. Muhlbach played college football for Texas A&M University. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004 by the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Lions that same year. He is second in Lions franchise history in games played, only behind former teammate Jason Hanson.
