2017 Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship
The 2017 Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship was the 12th staging of the Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 2006. The draw for the 2017 fixtures took place on 11 December 2016. The championship began on 15 April 2017 and ended on 15 October 2017. On 15 October 2017, Mallow won the championship following a 1-17 to 1-16 defeat of St Michael's in the final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. ''The Echo'', formerly known as the ''Evening Echo'', is an Irish morning newspaper based in Cork. It is distributed throughout the province of Munster, although it is primarily read in its base city of Cork. Castletownbere GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Castletownbere in Cork, Ireland. Its Gaelic Football team participates in competitions organized by Cork GAA, and is a member of Beara division. The club, like the other Beara clubs, does nor field a hurling team. History The Castletownbere GAA Club like most of the GAA Clubs in Beara was officially affiliated to the GAA in 1927, when the divisional system was established. Gaelic Football was however played for many years prior to 1927 in Castletownbere and there were various teams throughout the parish. There was a team from the Town called The Magpies who wore Black and White jerseys. These were the colours adopted by the club when it affiliated in 1927. St Mary's GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the villages of Ballineen and Enniskean, County Cork, Ireland. Founded in 1968, the club participates in both Gaelic football and hurling competitions. The club is a member of the Carbery division of Cork GAA. Nemo Rangers Hurling & Football Club is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club on the southside of Cork city, Ireland. Cloghduv or Cloghduff ( ; ) is a village in County Cork, Ireland. It has a population of 360 people. The main industry is agriculture, although it is also a commuter village for Cork City. Bandon GAA is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in Bandon in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club is affiliated with Carbery division of Cork. In 2007, Bandon won the West Cork Junior A Football Championship, beating Muintir Bhaire in the final. The club's hurling team meanwhile were runners-up in the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship. Páirc Uí Rinn (), also known as Páirc Chríostóir Uí Rinn, is a Gaelic Athletic Association stadium located between Ballinlough and Ballintemple in Cork. It was previously known as Flower Lodge and was used as an association football stadium. During the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, Flower Lodge served as the home ground of three League of Ireland clubs – Cork Hibernians, Albert Rovers and Cork City. Na Piarsaigh are a hurling and Gaelic football club based in the north side of Cork City, Ireland. History Formation In 1943 a group of idealistic young men drawn mostly from the hurling nursery of North Mon laid the foundations of Cumann Iomana & Peile Na Piarsaigh. The group had its first formal meeting in the presbytery of the North Cathedral. The young men called upon one of their teachers, Donnacha Ó Murchú, for guidance and assistance. This led to him becoming the first ''Uachtarán'' [president] of the club, with Derry Terry serving as ''Runaí'' [secretary] and Paddy Sutton as ''Cisteoir'' [treasurer]. In choosing a name for the club the members sought one which would reflect their aims and ideals.
