2017 Cork Junior Hurling Championship
The 2017 Cork Junior Hurling Championship was the 120th staging of the Cork Junior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1895. The championship draw took place on 28 August 2017. The championship began on 15 September 2017 and ended 7 November 2017. On 7 November 2017, St. Catherine's won the championship following a 0-13 to 0-12 defeat of Brian Dillons in the final. This was their second championship title in the grade and their first since 1983. ''The Echo'', formerly known as the ''Evening Echo'', is an Irish morning newspaper based in Cork. It is distributed throughout the province of Munster, although it is primarily read in its base city of Cork. Valley Rovers GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Innishannon in County Cork, Ireland. The club was formed in 1919 when two teams in the parish, Innishannon and Knockavilla, came together. The club fields teams in hurling, camogie, Gaelic football and Ladies' football. It participates in the Carrigdhoun division of Cork GAA. As of 2020, the club were playing at Premier senior level in football and Premier intermediate level in hurling. Seandun GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the city of Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, at adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. In addition, the division selects football and hurling teams from the adult teams playing at junior level or county intermediate level, and these then compete for the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship. Cloughduv GAA
Cloughduv GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association based in the village of Cloughduv in County Cork, Ireland. The club is a member of the Muskerry division of Cork GAA. The club fields hurling team only. There are two Gaelic football clubs in the parish (Kilmurry parish) - Canovee and Kilmurry - and there is often an overlap of players between the different clubs. History Hurling in the area pre-dates the founding of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Thurles in 1884; when the Cork County Board was inaugurated in 1886, 21 clubs attended including Ryecourt GAA represented by Michael J Keane. The Mid Cork Junior A Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the MKJ Oils Junior A Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Muskerry Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1926 for junior hurling teams in the Muskerry region in County Cork, Ireland. The series of games begin in May, with the championship culminating with the final in September. The championship includes a knock-out stage and a "back door" for teams defeated in the first round. The Mid Cork Junior Championship is an integral part of the wider Cork Junior Hurling Championship. The winners and runners-up of the Mid Cork championship join their counterparts from the other six divisions to contest the county championship. Muskerry GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division located in the middle region of County Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork GAA County Board. The division includes clubs from areas to the west of Cork city stretching to the county bounds with Kerry. Its name is derived from the ancient Gaelic kingdom of Múscraige which, following the Norman conquest, now encompasses the baronies of Muskerry West and Muskerry East. Russell Rovers is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the village of Shanagarry, County Cork, Ireland. The club draws its support from Churchtown South, Ballycotton, Garryvoe and Shanagarry itself. It competes in competitions organised by Cork county board and the Imokilly divisional board. It was popularly believed that the club acquired its name from the neighbouring townland of Ballyrussell, while other research suggests that it was possibly named after a Fr. Kilbrin GAA
Kilbrin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Kilbrin in the north-west of County Cork, Ireland which forms part of the parish of Ballyclough and Kilbrin. The club plays both Gaelic Football and Hurling and is affiliated with Duhallow GAA. The club competes in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship and the Duhallow Junior B Football Championship. At under age level, an amalgamation of Kilbrin and Castlemagner as Croke Rovers has addressed an issue as neither club would have been able to field an underage team on their own. Banteer GAA
Banteer GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which is based in the village of Banteer in the North West of County Cork, Ireland. The club plays hurling and is affiliated with Lyre Gaelic Football Club from the same parish. Founded in 1887, the club competes in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship. Banteer is a dual clubs, competing in a similar level in both football and hurling. However, the hurling team has experienced more success, winning the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship on 8 occasions, most recently in 2017.
