2017 Chilean Primera División
The 2017 Campeonato Nacional season, known as Campeonato Nacional de Transición Scotiabank 2017 for sponsorship purposes, was the 87th season of top-flight football in Chile. Colo-Colo won their thirty-second title following a 3–0 away win at Huachipato on 9 December. Universidad de Chile were the defending champions. Format changes Starting in 2017, the ANFP approved a change from the European calendar season (July-May) that had been used since 2013 to a calendar year season (February-December). The year calendar would have been implemented for the 2017 season, however, it was postponed for one year. In order to manage this transition, the 2017 Clausura tournament, part of the 2016–17 season, was followed up by a single championship in the second semester of the year. Chilean Primera División
The Chilean Primera División (English: First Division) is the top-tier league of the Chilean football league system. It is organized by the '' ANFP''. The league is known as the Campeonato AFP PlanVital for sponsorship reasons. Format As of the 2018 season, 16 teams compete in the league, playing against each other two times, home and away. Relegation and promotion Currently, the two teams with the worst scores in the season, are relegated to Primera B, and replaced by the Champions and Runners-up of this Division. Antofagasta
Antofagasta () is a port city in northern Chile, about north of Santiago. It is the capital of Antofagasta Province and Antofagasta Region. According to the 2015 census, the city has a population of 402,669. After the Spanish American wars of independence, Bolivia claimed Antofagasta as part of its territory. Despite having an overwhelmingly ethnic Chilean population, Chile recognised Bolivian sovereignty of Antofagasta in 1866, but in 1879 Chile recanted its recognition of Bolivian sovereignty citing a Bolivian breach of the latest boundary treaty. Antofagasta was captured by Chile in February 14 1879 triggering the War of the Pacific (1879–83). Estadio La Granja
The Estadio La Granja is a sports venue which is located in Curicó, Maule Region, Chile. The stadium holds 8,278 people and is part of a large sporting complex which also features tennis courts, swimming pools, a gymnasium, a velodrome and some other sport fields. It is the home stadium of Curicó Unido; and the former home ground of ''Alianza de Curicó'', Luis Cruz, and Badminton de Curicó. The stadium, currently owned by the Municipality of Curicó, originally has a capacity of 4,000. The first change; in 1985; was an increase of about 1,200, and another change was an increase to a capacity of 6,000, effected in 2004. An almost total reconstruction of the stadium was made in 2010, at that time only the west stands remains of the old stadium. Curicó (), meaning "Black Waters" in Mapudungun (originally meaning "Land of Black Water"), is the capital city of the Curicó Province, part of the Maule Region in Chile's central valley. The province lies between the provinces of Colchagua and Talca and extends from the Pacific to the Argentine frontier. Estadio Monumental David Arellano
The Estadio Monumental is a football Stadium in Macul, south-east of the centre of the Chilean capital Santiago. It serves as the home ground of Colo-Colo, and on occasions also for other clubs and the national football team. The stadium has a current spectator capacity of 47,347. The actual playing field is named after David Arellano, the founder of Colo-Colo; therefore, on occasions the whole stadium is referred to as Estadio Monumental David Arellano. The stadium was first opened in 1975 with a double-header in front of 25,599 people. In the first match Santiago Morning and Santiago Wanderers drew 1-1 and in the main event Colo-Colo defeated Deportes Aviación 1-0, Carlos Orellana being the scorer. Estadio Municipal De La Florida
Estadio Bicentenario Municipal de La Florida is a multi-purpose stadium, located in La Florida, in eastern Santiago, Chile. It is the home stadium of Chilean football team Audax Italiano. The stadium was built in 1986 and rebuilt in 2008. The stadium also hosts a variety of events such as summer theatre festivals and music concerts, such as the KISS concert in early 2009. Faith No More performed at the stadium on October 30, 2009 as part of their The Second Coming Tour. The stadium has also been used for concerts by System of a Down, Primus, Rage Against the Machine, The Mars Volta, The Black Eyed Peas, Green Day, Rammstein, and Dua Lipa among others. Deportes Antofagasta is a Chilean football club based in the city of Antofagasta currently playing in the Campeonato Nacional. The club's home stadium is the Estadio Bicentenario Calvo y Bascuñán, which has a capacity of 21,178. History The club was founded on May 14, 1966, when the amateur clubs ''Unión Bellavista'' and ''Portuario Atacama'' merged. The team's original name was ''Club de Deportes Antofagasta Portuario''. Curicó Unido is a football club based in Curicó, Maule Region, Chile. They currently play in the Primera División, the first level of the Chilean football system. They are currently managed by Damián Muñoz. History Curicó Unido was founded on 26 February 1973, with ''Edmundo Rojas'' as the first President of the club. They became the fourth football team from the Curicó city to play at the professional level, after Alianza de Curicó, Luis Cruz Martínez and Bádminton de Curicó.
