2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition
The 2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition was the 51st edition of the Regional Four Day Competition, the domestic first-class cricket competition for the countries of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The competition ran from 11 November 2016 to 24 April 2017. The WCIB re-introduced day/night fixtures into the competition with six matches played as such. Six teams contested the tournament – Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, the Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Windward Islands. Guyana won the competition, their third consecutive title, after beating the Windward Islands in their penultimate match. West Indies Cricket Board
Cricket West Indies (CWI) is the governing body for cricket in the West Indies (a sporting confederation of over a dozen mainly Commonwealth Caribbean, English-speaking Caribbean countries and dependencies that once formed the British West Indies). It was originally formed in the early 1920s as the West Indies Cricket Board of Control, but changed its name to West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) in 1996. In November 2015, the Board resolved to rename itself as Cricket West Indies as part of a restructuring exercise that would also see the creation of a separate commercial body. This rebranding formally occurred in May 2017. CWI has been a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1926. Declaration And Forfeiture
In the sport of cricket, a declaration occurs when a captain declares their team's innings closed and a forfeiture occurs when a captain chooses to forfeit an innings without batting. Declaration and forfeiture are covered in Law 15 of the '' Laws of Cricket''. This concept applies only to matches in which each team is scheduled to bat in two innings; Law 15 specifically does not apply in any form of limited overs cricket. Declaration The captain of the batting side may declare an innings closed, when the ball is dead, at any time during a match. Usually this is because the captain thinks their team has already scored enough runs to win the match and does not wish to consume any further time batting which would make it easier for the opponents to play out for a draw. Jomel Warrican
Jomel Andrel Warrican (born 20 May 1992) is a West Indian cricketer. He is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and a right-handed tail-end batsman. In September 2015 he was named in the Test squad for the West Indies tour to Sri Lanka. He made his Test debut against Sri Lanka on 22 October 2015, taking 4 wickets for 67 runs on the first day. Early career Born in Saint Vincent, Warrican moved to Barbados and attended Combermere School and joined the Empire Cricket Club. He was awarded the Lord Gavron Award for promising young cricketers in Barbados alongside Jason Holder in 2009 before representing the West Indies at the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Rahkeem Cornwall
Rahkeem Rashawn Shane Cornwall (born 1 February 1993) is an Antiguan cricketer. A right-arm off-break bowler, Cornwall has played for Leeward Islands cricket team and featured in the line-up for the Antigua Hawksbills and the Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League. In August 2019, Cricket West Indies named him as the Championship Player of the Year. Later the same month, he made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team. He also set the record for the heaviest cricketer to play Test cricket, weighing more than 140 kg (22 stone). Kenroy Da Costa Williams (9 August 1984 – 4 November 2024) was a Barbadian cricketer who represented the West Indies at A team level. An all-rounder, he was known as an aggressive and powerful right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off spin. Nkrumah Eljego Bonner (born 23 January 1989) is a Jamaican cricketer who plays international cricket for the West Indies. An occasional leg spin bowler and top order right-hand batsman, Bonner made his first-class cricket debut for Jamaica against Combined Campuses and Colleges in February 2011. Derval Charles Green (born 4 December 1988) is a Jamaican cricketer who has played for the Jamaica national side in West Indian domestic cricket. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler. Green was born in Trelawny Parish. He made his List A debut for Jamaica during the 2014–15 Regional Super50, against the Leeward Islands. Nigel Duguid (born 25 November 1969) is a Guyanese cricket umpire. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) umpiring debut in a match between the West Indies and Ireland on 21 February 2014. The Providence Stadium or Guyana National Stadium is a sports stadium in Guyana, replacing Bourda as the national stadium.
