The 2016–17 Polish Cup was the 60th edition of the Polish Volleyball Cup tournament. ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle won the 6th Polish Cup in club history after beating the title defenders, PGE Skra Bełchatów. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. Trefl Gdańsk
Trefl Gdańsk, previously known as Lotos Trefl Gdańsk, is a professional men's volleyball club based in Gdańsk in northern Poland. The club was founded in 2005 and promoted to the Polish PlusLiga in 2011. Two–time Polish Cup winner (2015, 2018). Honours * Polish Cup :Winners (2): 2014–15, 2017–18 * Polish SuperCup :Winners (1): 2015–16 Club history Trefl Gdańsk was founded in 2005, and began its history in the 2nd Polish Volleyball League, playing there until 2007. The club was promoted to PlusLiga in 2008 after spending just one season in the 1st Polish Volleyball League. Unfortunately, Trefl did not manage to stay in the league for long and has been relegated in the next season, in 2009. The 2016–17 PlusLiga was the 81st season of the Polish Volleyball Championship, the 17th season as a professional league organized by the Professional Volleyball League SA ( pl, Profesjonalna Liga Piłki Siatkowej SA) under the supervision of the Polish Volleyball Federation ( pl, Polski Związek Piłki Siatkowej). Benjamin Toniutti
Benjamin Toniutti (born 30 October 1989) is a French professional volleyball player who plays as a setter for Jastrzębski Węgiel and the France national team. He won a gold medal in the men's tournament at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and is the 2015 European Champion and the 2021 Champions League winner with ZAKSA. Personal life Toniutti was born and raised in Alsace by his father Maurizio, an Italian French, and French mother Cathy. His parents often travel to attend Toniutti's league matches. Toniutti is fluent in Italian. He is married. In August 2015, his wife gave birth to their daughter. Career On 13 April 2015, Toniutti signed a contract with Polish club ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Łukasz Wiśniewski
Łukasz Wiśniewski (born 3 February 1989) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as a middle blocker for Skra Bełchatów. He is a former member of the Poland national team. Personal life Wiśniewski was born in Włodawa. His mother trained handball and his father is a former footballer. On 10 May 2014, Wiśniewski married Katarzyna (née Łuszczewska). On 2 January 2017, his wife gave birth to their daughter Aleksandra. Career National team Wiśniewski made his debut in the Poland national team on 30 May 2010 in a friendly match against France. Robert Milczarek
Robert Milczarek (born 28 November 1983) is a Polish former professional volleyball player. He was a member of the Poland national team in 2005, and played most of his career for Skra Bełchatów in the Polish PlusLiga. Career Club Milczarek spent the 2013–14 season playing for Lotos Trefl Gdańsk. In 2014 he moved to MKS Będzin where he played as a libero. On 5 June 2015 for the third time in his career he came back to Skra Bełchatów. On 7 February 2016, he won the Polish Cup after beating ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the final. In April 2016 he won a bronze medal of the Polish Championship. Kévin Tillie
Kévin Tillie (born 2 November 1990) is a French professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for Projekt Warsaw and the France national team. Tillie won a gold medal in the men's tournament at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and is the 2015 European Champion and the 2015 World League winner. Personal life Tillie was born in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France. He is from an athletic family—his father Laurent was the head coach of the France men's national volleyball team during years, his mother Caroline played at the professional and Olympic levels (as did Laurent), his older brother Kim played college basketball with the Utah Utes and now does professionally in Europe and with France, and his younger brother Killian played on a two-way contract with the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies and its G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle. Artur Kacper Szalpuk (born 20 March 1995) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for Projekt Warsaw and the Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland national team. Szalpuk won a gold medal at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, 2018 World Championship held in Italy. The Polish Men's Volleyball SuperCup is an annual competition for volleyball clubs in Poland played by the PlusLiga champions and Polish Cup winners. It is overseen by the Polish Volleyball Federation ( pl, Polski Związek Piłki Siatkowej) and the Professional Volleyball League SA ( pl, Profesjonalna Liga Piłki Siatkowej S.A.).
