2016–17 PBA Season
The 2016–17 PBA season was the 42nd season of the Philippine Basketball Association. The league continues to use the three-conference format, starting with the Philippine Cup. The Commissioner's Cup and the Governors' Cup are the second and third conferences in the upcoming season. The first event of the season was the 2016 PBA draft, held on October 30. PBA Governors' Cup
The PBA Governors' Cup is a tournament of the Philippine Basketball Association. Along with the PBA Commissioner's Cup, the tournament is one of the two conferences that allows teams to hire a single foreign player, also known as an "import". The tournament was first held in 1993 as the third conference of the PBA season. It was discontinued in 2003 when the PBA Reinforced Conference, Reinforced Conference was revived. From 2004 to 2010, the league only held two conferences in a season; one All-Filipino tournament, named as the PBA Philippine Cup, Philippine Cup and one with imports, named as the PBA Fiesta Conference, Fiesta Conference The tournament was re-instated in 2010–11 PBA season, 2011 as the third conference of the PBA season after the league re-adopted the three conference format. Blackwater Elite
The Blackwater Bossing is a professional basketball team owned by Ever Bilena, Inc. that is playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) beginning in the 2014–2015 season. The franchise began as one of the founding teams in the PBA Developmental League. It transferred to the PBA after being accepted as an expansion team. Mark Caguioa
Mark Anthony Yu Caguioa (born November 19, 1979) is a Filipino professional basketball player who last played for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as The Spark and as MC47 from his initials and his jersey number, he is also half of "The Fast and The Furious", along with his backcourt partner, Jayjay Helterbrand. Earl Timothy Cone (born December 14, 1957) is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is the most accomplished coach in PBA history with twenty-four (24) titles, including two (2) Grand Slams, four (4) Coach of the Year awards, and the winningest coach of the league tallying more than one thousand (1000) games won. Joachim Gunther "Sonny" Thoss (born December 7, 1981) is a German-Filipino former professional basketball player. He played his entire career in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) with the Alaska Aces, where his jersey number is retired. Early life and education Joachim Thoss was born on December 7, 1981, in Papua New Guinea to a German father and to a Filipina mother. Alex Compton
Alexander M. Compton (born March 16, 1974) is a Filipino-born American retired basketball player and coach. He also served as the head coach of the Alaska Aces of the Philippine Basketball Association. Early life and college career Born in Makati in the Philippines, Compton and his family spent a year in northeastern Thailand when he was ten years old. His parents, both Southeast Asian Studies scholars, were researchers there. Compton moved to Madison from upstate New York in 1988, when his parents began working at the University of Wisconsin. Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) is a manufacturer of milk products in the Philippines. It is a subsidiary of Dutch dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina, which acquired control (98.1%) of the company from the founding Uytengsu family in 2012. Dickie Bachmann
Richard "Dickie" Bachmann (born 1968 or 1969) is a Filipino sports executive and former basketball player who serves as the chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). Education Bachmann attended De La Salle University from 1986 to 1991 graduating with a degree in commerce. Career Playing career Bachmann also played for the Green Archers, the De La Salle University's varsity team when he was in college.
