2016–17 Macedonian First League (basketball) Season
The 2016–17 Macedonian First League was the 25th season of the Macedonian First League, with 10 teams participating in it. The season's regular season started on 19 November 2016 and finished on 4 March 2017. MZT Skopje and Karpoš Sokoli joined the league in a further stage. The season finished with the last game of the Finals on 27 May 2017. MZT Skopje won its sixth national title. Teams MZT Skopje participated in both ABA League and EuroCup Basketball. Karpoš Sokoli participated in both ABA League and Balkan International Basketball League. Both teams would join the First League after January 2017 with the start of the second stage. The 2015–16 Macedonian First League was the 24th season of the Macedonian First League, with 8 teams participating in it. Regular season started on October 10, 2015, and finished on April 23, 2016, followed by the playoffs, with the six best placed teams joining it. Kavadarci
Kavadarci ( mk, Кавадарци ) is a town in the Tikveš region of North Macedonia. In the heart of North Macedonia's wine country, it is home to the largest winery in Southeast Europe, named after the Tikveš plain. The town of Kavadarci is the seat of Kavadarci Municipality. KK Rabotnički
KK Rabotnički ( mk, КК Работнички) is a basketball club based in Skopje, North Macedonia. They currently play in the Macedonian First League and ABA League Second Division. The club has won the Macedonian championship 15 times and the Macedonian Cup 10 times. Fans of KK Rabotnički are known as ''City Park Boys'' or simply The Boys , the reds or the mighty reds. History The club was founded in 1946 in Skopje. In 1964, KK Rabotnički became a member of the first federal "A" league in the former Federation of six republics Yugoslavia and competed there on a regular basis until 1990. Balkan International Basketball League
The Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL), also known as the Balkan League, is a multinational professional basketball league that features mostly clubs from the Balkans. The league included teams from countries as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and Israel. The most recent league champion is Hapoel Galil Elyon from Israel. Purpose The purpose of the Balkan International Basketball League is to provide competitive international play for clubs in the Balkans that would otherwise be unable to participate in international basketball. The league achieves this by providing financial support to all participating clubs in order to ease the costs that make international play difficult. ABA League
The ABA League, renamed to the ABA League First Division in 2017, is the 1st-tier regional men's professional basketball league that originally featured clubs from the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia). Due to sponsorship reasons, the league was also known as the Goodyear League from 2001 to 2006, the NLB League from 2006 to 2011, and as the AdmiralBet ABA League from 2021. The league coexists alongside scaled-down national leagues in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. MZT Skopje Aerodrom ( mk, МЗТ Скопје Аеродром) is a basketball club based in Skopje, North Macedonia. The club competes in the Macedonian League and ABA League. The club's home ground is Jane Sandanski Arena, but due to small capacity, the matches in the ABA League and EuroCup between 2012 and 2014 were played in Boris Trajkovski Arena. Since the 2014–15 season, all matches are held in the renovated Jane Sandanski Arena. In its history, MZT Skopje has won the Macedonian championship eight times, the Macedonian Cup ten times, and the Macedonian Super Cup four times.
