2016–17 LPB Season
The 2016–17 LPB season was the 84th season of the premier Portuguese basketball league, and the ninth season under the current Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (LPB) format. For sponsorship reasons, the league is also known as Liga Placard. Benfica won its 27th title and recovered the title after beating defending champions Porto in the finals by 3–0. Format The competition format consisted of two stages: a regular season, comprising two phases, and the play-offs. In the first phase of the regular season, the twelve participating teams compete against each other in a double round-robin system, with home and away matches. Match wins, draws and losses are worth two, one and zero points, respectively. The second phase of the regular season comprises two groups; the six best-ranked teams at the end of the first phase compete in Group A, and the remaining six teams compete in Group B. FC Porto (basketball)
Futebol Clube do Porto (), commonly referred to as FC Porto, or simply Porto, is a Portuguese professional basketball team based in Porto. Created in 1926, it is the senior representative side of the basketball section of multi-sports club FC Porto. The team competes domestically in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (LPB) and internationally in FIBA Europe competitions, such as the Champions League and the FIBA Europe Cup. It plays its home matches at the Dragão Arena, alongside the club's handball and roller hockey teams, and is managed by Galician head coach Moncho López since 2009. Ovarense Basquetebol
Ovarense Basquetebol is a professional basketball team that plays in Ovar, Portugal. The team plays in the LPB. The Ovarense created its section of basketball in 1970, with the initiative of a member entrepreneur, João Gonçalves, but in this period of time managed to assert itself as one of the standards and the inevitable reference method in Portugal. Barreiro, Portugal
Barreiro () is a city and a municipality in Setúbal District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 78,764, in an area of 36.39 km2. Barreiro has a view of the city of Lisbon from Avenida da Praia and a riverside area called Alburrica. The mayor since 2017 has been Frederico Rosa, elected by the Socialist Party.
