The 2016 World Karate Championships were the 23rd edition of the World Karate Championships, and were held in Linz, Austria from October 25 to October 30, 2016. Linz
Linz ( , ; cs, Linec) is the capital of Upper Austria and third-largest city in Austria. In the north of the country, it is on the Danube south of the Czech border. ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb ( ar, عمر بن الخطاب, also spelled Omar, ) was the second Rashidun caliph, ruling from August 634 until his assassination in 644. Rafael Mahir Aghayev ( az, Rafael Ağayev; born March 4, 1985, in Sumqayit, Azerbaijan SSR) is an Azerbaijani karateka. He won the silver medal in the men's kumite 75 kg division at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He is a five-time world champion, and eleven-time European champion in his discipline. Jordan Thomas (born 10 March, 1992) is a British karateka. In 2016, he became the first British Karate World Champion in 12 years, since Paul Newby's gold medal in 2004.
