2016 Sporting Kansas City Season
The 2016 Sporting Kansas City season was the twenty-first season of the team's existence in Major League Soccer and the sixth year played under the Sporting Kansas City moniker. Sporting Kansas City entered the season as the defending U.S. Open Cup champions. Sporting Kansas City, often shortened to Sporting KC, is an American men's professional Association football, soccer club based in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Designated Player Rule
The Designated Player Rule, nicknamed the Beckham Rule, allows Major League Soccer franchises to sign up to three players that would be considered outside their salary cap (either by offering the player higher wages or by paying a transfer fee for the player). The rule, which was adopted ahead of the 2007 MLS season, enables teams to compete for star players in the international football market. The rule is one of two mechanisms by which MLS teams may exceed their salary cap, the other being allocation money. As of December 2019, there have been 209 Designated Players in league history. Balıkesirspor is a Turkish club based in Balıkesir. Established in 1966, the football team played in the Süper Lig after achieving promotion having finished as runners-up of the TFF First League in 2013–14. Nuno André da Silva Coelho (; born 7 January 1986) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a central defender. Dániel Sallói (; born 19 July 1996) is a Hungarian professional footballer who plays as a striker and winger for Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City and the Hungary national team. Club career Youth Sallói worked his way through the youth ranks of Nemzeti Bajnokság I club Újpest FC in his home town of Budapest, Hungary beginning in 2005. Houston Dynamo FC (formerly officially, but still commonly, called the Houston Dynamo) is an American professional soccer club based in Houston. The Dynamo compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Bradley Joseph Davis (born November 8, 1981) is an American former soccer player who played as a midfielder. Career Youth and College Davis attended high school at Chaminade College Preparatory School in Missouri. When he was 16, he had the chance to move to The Netherlands and join the PSV Eindhoven academy, but Davis opted to stay at home. He joined Saint Louis University (SLU) in 2000, where he played for two seasons before leaving college soccer for the professional ranks. Justin Mapp
Justin Mapp (born October 18, 1984) is an American former soccer player who played as a midfielder. Mapp has been described as being versatile and known for possessing "speed and creative abilities from out wide, but also his ability to drift inside and generate offense." Career Professional Mapp graduated from the Bradenton Academy in 2001 and signed with MLS as a Project-40 player. He was drafted by D.C. United with the fourth overall pick in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft, but played only 28 minutes for DC in his first year as a pro. 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft
The two-stage 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on December 11, 2015, (stage 1) and December 17, 2015, (stage 2). All 20 Major League Soccer clubs were eligible to participate. The priority order for the draft was reverse order of finish in 2015, taking into account play-off performance. Alec Kann (born August 8, 1990) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati. Career Youth and college Kann attended Lakeside High School (DeKalb County, Georgia), where he was a soccer starter for three years, including on the AAAA state title team (20-1-1 record) as a senior.
