2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft
The two-stage 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on December 11, 2015, (stage 1) and December 17, 2015, (stage 2). All 20 Major League Soccer clubs were eligible to participate. The priority order for the draft was reverse order of finish in 2015, taking into account play-off performance. Available to all teams in stage 1 of the re-entry draft were: * Players who were at least 23-years-old and had a minimum of three MLS service years whose options were not exercised by their clubs (available at option salary for 2016). * Players who were at least 25-years-old with a minimum of four years of MLS experience who were out of contract and whose club did not wish to re-sign them at their previous salary (available for at least their 2015 salary). * Free agents who chose to participate. MLS Re-Entry Draft
The MLS Re-Entry Draft is an annual event in which Major League Soccer teams select players who are out of contract or have had their options declined by their current teams. Although the single-entity league does not have true free agency, the re-entry draft was created to provide an outlet of internal movement for veteran players. History The Re-Entry Draft was created by the collective bargaining agreement reached in March 2010. Under the previous rules, clubs could hold what amounted to a 48-hour first right of refusal on players whose contracts had expired or did not have the options picked up. This was a significant obstacle to a new agreement during negotiations during the 2009-10 MLS offseason. Jairo Arrieta Obando (born 25 August 1983) is a Costa Rican professional footballer, who plays as a forward for A.D.R. Jicaral. Club career Costa Rica Arrieta was born in Nicoya, Costa Rica. Before moving to Deportivo Saprissa, he played for Guanacasteca and their successors Brujas. While with Saprissa, Arrieta scored 48 goals in 178 league matches. Brian Gregory Perk (born July 21, 1989) is an American former soccer player. LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, are an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Thomas Meyer (born March 20, 1990) is an American soccer player. Career High school Meyer attended St. Louis University High School in St. Louis while also playing for Scott Gallagher Soccer Club. College and Amateur Meyer played college soccer for the Indiana University Hoosiers between 2008 and 2011. During his time at Indiana, Meyer was named as a 2011 All-Big Ten Conference First Team and was second in the Big Ten Conference with 7 assists. He is also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Alexander Agustín López Rodríguez (born 5 June 1992) is a Honduran professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Liga FPD club Alajuelense and the Honduras national team. Óscar Boniek García Ramírez (born 4 September 1984) is a Honduran former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Bakary Soumaré (born 9 November 1985) is a Malian former professional footballer who played as a defender. He played professionally in the United States, France, Germany and Canada, and earned twelve caps for the Mali national team.
