2016 Speedway World Cup Event 2
Event Two of the 2016 Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup was the second race of the 2016 edition of the Speedway World Cup. It was staged on July 26 at the Stena Arena in Västervik, Sweden and was won by hosts and defending champions Sweden from Australia, United States, and Germany. As a result, Sweden progressed directly to the 2016 Speedway World Cup Final, while Australia and United States progressed to the 2016 Speedway World Cup Race-off. Germany were eliminated. Antonio Lindbäck and Andreas Jonsson led Sweden success by scoring 13 points each, with Fredrik Lindgren and Peter Ljung scored 11 each to earn Sweden 48 points. Jason Doyle top scored for Australia with 12 points, while Greg Hancock guided United States to third by scoring 17 points. Eric Joel Andersson (born 11 November 1996) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays for Danish Superliga club Midtjylland as a right-back. Martin Smolinski (born 6 December 1984, in Munich, West Germany) is a former international motorcycle speedway and Grasstrack rider from Germany. He is eight times champion of Germany. Career Smolinksi began riding in his natiove Germany for MSC Olching. He became the German junior champion in 2003 and after reaching the final 2003 Speedway Under-21 World Championship he signed for Coventry Bees in England. Coventry retained him for the following two seasons and his form improved over the next two seasons. In 2006, he signed for his first Polish club Rybnik and in 2007 became the German Champion for the first time. Tobias Kroner
Tobias Kroner (born 16 October 1985) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Germany. Speedway career Kroner began his British league career after he signed for Oxford for the 2005 Elite League speedway season. He struggled during the season but switched to Ipswich Witches the following season where his form began to improve. In 2007, he remained with Ipswich and made his Polish league debut for Orzeł Łódź in the Polish Speedway First League. He then joined Wybrzeże Gdańsk, with whom he reached the Ekstraliga. Kevin Wölbert (born 14 June 1989) is a German speedway rider who has won Individual German Champion title in 2008. Career history When Max Dilger was injured, Wölbert was nominated as second track reserve at the 2008 German Grand Prix. But, after re-staged this event in Bydgoszcz, Poland (as the Final Grand Prix), Wölbert was replaced by Pole Grzegorz Zengota. Due to having Polish roots through his grandmother, Wölbert has been interest of Polish citizenship. Luke Becker (born 11 February 1999) is a speedway rider from the United States. Career Becker began his British career riding for Wolverhampton Wolves in 2019. Unable to ride during 2020 because of Covid-19 cancelled season, he continued to ride for Wolverhampton during the SGB Premiership 2021. In 2022, he rode for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the SGB Premiership 2022.
