2016 Selangor FA Season
The 2016 Selangor FA Season is Selangor FA's 11th season playing soccer in the Malaysia Super League since its inception in 2004. Selangor FA began the season on 7 February 2016. They will also compete in three domestic cups: the FA Cup Malaysia, Malaysia Cup; the Malaysia Charity Shield; and an international cup, the AFC Cup. Season overview Pre-season (Squad build and first transfers) On 18 December 2015, Selangor made announcement with signing of four new local players from Pahang, Hafiz Kamal, R. Gopinathan, Khairul Azhan and Razman Roslan. Selangor also bring in a new goalkeeper from AirAsia, Zarif Irfan Hashimuddin. On 31 December 2015, Selangor announced that Mehmet Durakovic would step down at the end of the season after successfully led the Red Giants to win the Malaysia Cup last season. Selangor Football Club (Malay: ''Kelab Bola Sepak Selangor''), commonly referred to as Selangor F.C. is a Malaysian professional football club based in the city of Shah Alam, Selangor, that currently competes in the Malaysia Super League, the top tier of Malaysian football. Sri Pahang Football Club () is a Malaysian professional football club based in Kuantan, Pahang. Founded in 1959 and has traditionally worn a yellow home kit since. At the beginning, club's home matches were held around the city public fields and outside Kuantan, predominantly around districts of Pahang. The lowest point of the club was in 2012, when KBS Sri Pahang were relegated to the Malaysia Premier League. Khairul Azhan Khalid
Muhammad Khairulazhan bin Mohd Khalid (born 7 November 1989) is a Malaysian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Selangor and the Malaysia national team. Club career Youth The Kuantan-born custodian began his career as a footballer with Pahang U-21 as the main goalkeeper of the team. Mohd Hafiz Kamal
Mohd Hafiz bin Kamal (born 9 July 1987) is a Malaysian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Immigration F.C. . He was born in Pantai Remis, Perak. He is a set-piece specialist and regularly takes charge of corner and free kick duties for his team. He has commanded a regular role with Pahang, and helped them lift the Malaysia Cup in 2013. His last penalty kick helped the club retaining the Malaysia Cup, a year later. AFC Cup
The AFC Cup is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Under its current rules, the competition is played primarily between clubs from nations that did not receive direct qualifying slots in the top-tier AFC Champions League, based on the AFC Club Competitions Ranking. Al-Kuwait SC and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya are the most successful clubs in the competition's history, having won three titles each. Clubs from Kuwait have won four titles, making them the most successful nation in the competition. The Malaysia FA Cup ( ms, Piala FA) is an annual national knock-out football tournament in Malaysia. The cup was first held in 1990. The competition was previously managed by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), before being transferred to Football Malaysia LLP (MFL) (now known as Malaysian Football League) in the 2016 season. The Malaysia Super League ( ms, Liga Super Malaysia) is the men's top professional football division of the Malaysian football league system. The 2017 Selangor FA Season was Selangor FA's 12th season playing soccer in the Malaysia Super League since its inception in 2004. Selangor FA began the season on January 21, 2017.
