2016 Parañaque Local Elections
Local elections were held in Parañaque City on May 9, 2016 within the Philippine general election. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the congressman, and the councilors, eight of them in the two districts of the city. Background Incumbent City Mayor Edwin Olivarez will be seeking a reelection this 2016 election, running under the Liberal Party unopposed. Jeremy Marquez, the son of former city mayor Joey Marquez will be running for vice mayor against Olivarez's running mate and incumbent vice mayor Rico Golez. Edwin Olivarez
Edwin de Leon Olivarez (born August 14, 1963) is a Filipino politician, athlete, and businessman currently serving as a Member of the Philippine House of Representatives from Parañaque's 1st District since 2022 and previously from 2010 to 2013. He previously served as Mayor of Parañaque from 2013 to 2022, as well as the Metro Manila Council Chair and head of the Regional Peace and Order Council – National Capital Region in concurrent capacity. Joselito Perez Marquez (born Artemio Perez Marquez Jr.; October 7, 1957) better known as Joey Marquez, is a Filipino actor, comedian, politician and former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. Hubert Webb
Hubert Jeffrey Pagaspas Webb (born November 7, 1968), is the third son of Freddie Webb, as well as the brother of Pinky Webb and Jason Webb. He gained prominence as a suspect in the Vizconde murders. Vizconde murders Webb was the prime suspect of the infamous homicide that occurred on June 30, 1991. Eric de Leon Olivarez is an educator, a registered nurse, and a fitness buff who is the incumbent Mayor of Parañaque since 2022. Legislative Districts Of Parañaque
The legislative districts of Parañaque are the representations of the highly urbanized city of Parañaque in the Congress of the Philippines. The city is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress through its first and second congressional districts. History Parañaque was initially represented as part of the at-large district of the province of Manila in the Malolos Congress from 1898 to 1899. The then-town was later incorporated to the province of Rizal, established in 1901, and was represented as part of the first district of Rizal from 1907 to 1941 and from 1945 to 1972. It was incorporated to the City of Greater Manila and was represented as part of the at-large district of Manila from 1943 to 1944.
