2016 OKC Energy FC Season
The 2016 Oklahoma City Energy FC season was the club's third season in existence, and their third season playing in the United Soccer League (USL), the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. Background This is the second season where Oklahoma City Energy FC plays its full season at Taft Stadium. KSBI-TV will air all Energy FC matches this season. Energy FC qualified for the playoffs again this season as a 7th seed but lost to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in the Conference Semi-finals. Oklahoma City Energy Football Club is an American professional soccer club based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The club is a member of the USL Championship, the second division of the American soccer league system. History Oklahoma City businessman Robert "Bob" Funk, Jr., was awarded a United Soccer League franchise on July 2, 2013, and in November, the club announced its name would be Oklahoma City Energy FC. Phoenix Rising Football Club is an American professional soccer team based in Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in 2014 as Arizona United Soccer Club, the team is a member of the USL Championship. History On March 13, 2014, Kyle Eng, owner of an advertising agency, launched the franchise and named it Arizona United SC. Atiba Erasto Harris (born 9 January 1985) is a Kittitian football administrator and former professional footballer. He captained the Saint Kitts and Nevis national team. As of August 2021, he serves as President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association. Career Club Harris played for St. Peters FC as a youngster, captaining them to the SKNFA Premier League Finals, and became the first player from St. Kitts to sign with a Spanish club when he signed in Spain with Cádiz in 2004–05. Kalen Ryden (born April 12, 1991) is an American soccer player who currently plays for New Mexico United in the USL Championship. Career College and Amateur Ryden began his college career at Oral Roberts University where he played from 2009 to 2010. In his two seasons with the Golden Eagles, he made 35 appearances and tallied three goals and two assists. After the 2010 season, he left the Golden Eagles soccer program due to injury. However, he remained a student at Oral Roberts during the school year. In 2012, Ryden transferred to Midwestern State University and redshirted his first season there due to transfer rules. Casey James Townsend (born July 7, 1989) is an American former professional soccer player. Career Prep career Townsend played for Traverse City West High School in Michigan from 2004 to 2007. During his time there he was named the state's Player of The Year (Mr. Soccer) in 2006 and 2007. He is the only player who has ever been given that award twice.
