2016 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series
The 2016 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is the eighth Racecar Euro Series season, and the fourth under the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series branding. Ander Vilariño enters the season as the defending champion, although he does not defend his title. Rules changes The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series presented a new technical package at the Circuit Zolder Finals on October 2, 2015. The package includes improvements to the braking system, suspensions and a revised aerodynamic configuration. The Chevrolet SS body was unveiled at Zolder, while the Ford Mustang body made its debut on December 5, 2015 in a testing session at Fontenay Le Comte, France. CAAL Racing is an Italian racing team based in Todi, Province of Perugia that currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Marc Goossens, nicknamed The Goose (born 30 November 1969), is a Belgian professional racing driver that currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, driving the No. 14 Chevrolet Camaro for SpeedHouse in the EuroNASCAR PRO class. Racing career Goossens drove full-time in Formula 3000 from 1994 to 1996 and part-time from 1999 to 2001. In between he drove in endurance races and is a veteran of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Gianmarco Ercoli (born 5 May 1995 in Rome) is an Italian professional racing driver that currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, driving the No. 54 Chevrolet Camaro for CAAL Racing in the EuroNASCAR PRO class. He is a former one-time champion in the Euro Series, having won the Elite 2 championship title in 2015. Racing career Ercoli started his racing career in 2003 on karting. Borja García Menéndez (born 15 December 1982 in Valencia) is a Spanish racing driver. He last competed in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, having last driven for Alex Caffi Motorsport in a part-time effort in 2018.
