2015–16 Kilmarnock F.C. Season
The 2015–16 season was Kilmarnock's third season in the Scottish Premiership and their 23rd consecutive appearance in the top flight of Scottish football. Kilmarnock also competed in the League Cup and the Scottish Cup. Overview Kilmarnock finished eleventh in the Scottish Premiership with 36 points. They reached the third round of the League Cup, losing to Hearts, and also reached the fifth round of the Scottish Cup, losing to Rangers. Kilmarnock rounded off the season with a 4–1 aggregate victory over Falkirk in the Premiership play-off final to secure top flight status for the 2016–17 season. Kilmarnock (, sco, Kilmaurnock; gd, Cill Mheàrnaig (IPA: ʰʲɪʎˈveaːɾnəkʲ, "Marnock's church") is a large town and former burgh in East Ayrshire, Scotland and is the administrative centre of East Ayrshire Council. With a population of 46,770, Kilmarnock is the 14th most populated settlement in Scotland and the largest town in Ayrshire. The town is continuous to nearby neighbouring villages Crookedholm and Hurlford to the east, and Kilmaurs to the west of the town. Crawford Allan (born 16 May 1967) is a retired Scottish football referee. He was appointed Head of Referee Operations at the Scottish FA on the 13th January 2020. Penalty Kick (association Football)
A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines. Procedure The ball is placed on the penalty mark, regardless of where in the penalty area the foul occurred. The player taking the kick must be identified to the referee. Kallum Higginbotham
Kallum Michael Higginbotham (born 15 June 1989) is an English footballer who plays as a winger for Tranent in the Lowland League. Higginbotham started his football career as a youth player at Salford City and then in Oldham Athletic's reserve squad. Having failed to break into the first team at Boundary Park, Higginbotham joined League One side Rochdale in 2007. He was later loaned to Accrington Stanley, having fallen out of favour. He joined Scottish First Division side Falkirk in June 2010, where he enjoyed two successful seasons with the club. Higginbotham left Falkirk in 2012 and joined Huddersfield Town, where he spent the majority of his time on loan at Barnsley, Carlisle and Motherwell. Steven McLean (referee)
Steven McLean (born 1 April 1981) is a Scottish football referee. He became a FIFA referee in 2010 and was selected to officiate at the 2011 UEFA U17 European Championship. In October 2011 McLean was in charge of a 2013 European Under-21 qualifier involving Spain and Croatia. In January 2012 McLean was the referee for a Scottish League Cup semi-final - an Ayrshire derby between Kilmarnock and Ayr United, won by the former who went on to lift the trophy. In March 2014 McLean refereed his first major national final, the 2014 Scottish League Cup Final between Aberdeen and Inverness Caledonian Thistle which Aberdeen won in a penalty shoot-out. However at the end of the league season he angered Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes by failing to award a foul in the last minute of their match with Motherwell, permitting Motherwell to score the winning goal and thereby overtake Aberdeen in the standings. Pittodrie Stadium, commonly referred to as Pittodrie, is an all-seater stadium in Aberdeen, Scotland. Chris Johnston (born 3 September 1994) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Scottish League One club Stranraer Career A member of Kilmarnock's under-19 squad, Johnston was promoted to the first team on 14 January 2012, where he was an unused substitute in their match against Aberdeen.
