2015–16 Detroit Red Wings Season
The 2015–16 Detroit Red Wings season was the 90th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. The regular season began on October 9, 2015, against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and former Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock, with a 4–0 victory. This season also involved the Red Wings extending their playoff streak to 25 straight seasons. Off-season On June 9, 2015, Jeff Blashill was named the head coach of the Red Wings, following the departure of Mike Babcock to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Atlantic Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League has used the name Atlantic Division for two distinct groups of teams. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The Atlantic Division name was assigned to a new division comprising the entirety of the former Northeast Division plus the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning (coincidentally, both were members of the original Atlantic Division until 1998) from the now-dissolved Southeast Division, and the Detroit Red Wings, who moved from the Central Division of the Western Conference. 2015–16 Pittsburgh Penguins Season
The 2015–16 Pittsburgh Penguins season was the 49th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. Their regular season games began on October 8, 2015 against the Dallas Stars. On December 12, the team had a record of 15–10–3. The organization then fired head coach Mike Johnston and replaced him with Mike Sullivan, head coach of the organization's American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre. The Penguins qualified for the playoffs for the tenth consecutive season. They earned second place in the Metropolitan Division with 104 points. They began the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs on April 13 against the New York Rangers, the team they were eliminated by in the Stanley Cup playoffs both of the previous two seasons. Jared Coreau
Jared Coreau (born November 5, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He is currently playing for HC Slovan Bratislava of the Slovak Extraliga. Playing career Junior Coreau began his junior career playing for the Peterborough Stars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League during the 2008–09 season, where he went 8–1 with a 2.16 goals against average (GAA) and .930 save percentage. Coreau played for the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL) during the 2009–10 season, where he went 7–22–0 with one shutout and had a 3.62 GAA and .882 save percentage. Tom McCollum
Thomas McCollum (born December 7, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for HC TWK Innsbruck of the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). McCollum was drafted 30th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. McCollum was born in Amherst, New York, but grew up in Sanborn, New York. Playing career Amateur McCollum started playing goalie when, during a mite hockey game, the goalie on his team quit; McCollum switched from defence and took over in net at the next practice. The 2015–16 Chicago Blackhawks season was the 90th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. They entered the season as defending Stanley Cup champions having won the Stanley Cup the previous season, their third championship in six years. The Blackhawks finished the season with 103 points to finish in third place in the Central Division, only six points behind the Western Conference-leading Dallas Stars. They lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to the St. Louis Blues in seven games. Patrick Kane led the Blackhawks with 46 goals and 106 points, both career highs. He was named the winner of the Hart Memorial Trophy as most valuable player in the NHL, becoming the first US-born player to receive the award. Jim Bedard (ice Hockey, Born 1956)
James Arthur Bédard (born November 17, 1956) is a Canadian retired ice hockey goaltender. He was most recently the goaltending coach for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Career Originally drafted in 1976 by the Washington Capitals, Bédard played for parts of two seasons with the Capitals. After playing two seasons in the minor leagues, Bédard signed to play in the Finnish SM-liiga, After two seasons with HC TPS, he played in Finland for 12 seasons more, mostly in lower divisions, before finally retiring in 1994. After his playing career, he served as the goaltending coach with the Detroit Red Wings for 19 seasons. He had won three Stanley Cups with Detroit in 1998, 2002 and 2008. Christos Kostas Chelios (born January 25, 1962) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He was one of the longest tenured players in the National Hockey League, and is a three-time Stanley Cup champion—one with the Montreal Canadiens and two with the Detroit Red Wings. Chelios played for the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and the Atlanta Thrashers. Pat Ferschweiler
Pat Ferschweiler (born February 20, 1970) is an American ice hockey coach and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Western Michigan Broncos. Playing career Ferschweiler began his collegiate career with the Western Michigan Broncos in 1990, having previously played for the Rochester Mustangs of the USHL. He had a strong first season with the Broncos, registering 20 points in 42 games during the 1990-91 season. The following season was a successful one for Ferschweiler, as he was named the Best Defensive Forward in the CCHA, despite scoring at over a point-per-game rate. Anthony Lewis Granato (born July 25, 1964) is an American former professional ice hockey left winger and current head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team. He served as head coach of the United States men's national ice hockey team at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
