2015 TCR Asia Series Season
The 2015 TCR Asia Series season was the first season of the TCR Asia Series. The season began at Sepang on 5 September and finished on 22 November at the Guia Circuit in Macau, after four rounds. Michael Choi won the drivers' championship, driving a Honda Civic TCR, and Asia Racing Team won the teams' championship. Teams and drivers Michelin is the official tyre supplier. Calendar and results The provisional 2015 schedule was announced on 23 December 2014. A revised calendar was announced on 25 February 2015. On 17 July the Zhuhai round, scheduled for 16 August, was removed. The TCR Asia Series is an annual touring car racing event that is held at various locations across Asia. History TCR Asia Series was announced on 14 August 2014 by the organisation behind the TCR series under the name TC3 Asia Series - later changed to TCR Asia Series along with the other announced series. Samson Chan
"Samson" Chan Kai Yiu (born 5 December 1956) is a Canadian-born Hong Kong racing driver currently competing in the TCR Asia Series. Having previously competed in the Asian Le Mans Series, GT Asia Series and Asian Formula Renault Series amongst others. Racing career Chan began his career in 1996 in the BPR Global GT Series. In 2004 he switched to the Asian Formula Renault Series. From 2008-11 he raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, GT Asia Series and Malaysian Super Series. In 2012 Chan switched to the Asian GT Series, he won the championship that year. In 2014 he raced in the Asian Le Mans Series, finishing the season 3rd in the standings. Craft-Bamboo Racing is an auto racing team. It was founded in 2014 after the merger of Craft Racing from Hong Kong and Bamboo Engineering from the United Kingdom. Craft Racing was established by Frank Yu in 2009 and was a front running team in Asian Championships for five years. Bamboo Engineering was formed in July 2009 in Silverstone following the departure of team director Richard Coleman from Tempus Sport. It finished third in the WTCC drivers championship in 2013, and also ran in the GP3 Series. Richard Coleman was removed from the team in 2017, and was sued in 2020. Mak Hing Tak (born 28 October 1959) is a Hong Kong racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series. Having previously competed in the Audi R8 LMS Cup and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia amongst others. Racing career Mak began his career in 2009 in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, he raced there up until 2014. In 2012 he also raced in the Audi R8 LMS Cup. He came 2nd in class in the 2011 6 Hours of Zhuhai, driving an Audi R8 LMS. The TCR International Series was an international touring car championship. The championship was promoted by World Sporting Consulting (WSC), founded by former World Touring Car Championship manager Marcello Lotti. It was marketed as a cost-effective spin-off of the WTCC, targeted at C-segment hatchbacks production-based touring cars. Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos. The team has been successful in Formula Three and the GP2 Series. History After retiring from racing, Campos formed his own team at the end of 1997, under the name Campos Motorsport. In 1998 the team began by competing in the new Open Fortuna by Nissan, with Marc Gené and Antonio García as drivers. "Kenneth" Lau Chi Yung (born 6 June 1960) is a Hong Kong racing driver and businessman currently competing in the TCR Asia Series and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. Having previously competed in the Asian Touring Car Series, Clio Cup China Series and Hong Kong Touring Car Championship amongst others.
