2015 Challenge Trophy
The 2015 Challenge Trophy is the national championship for men's soccer clubs competing at division 4 and below in the Canadian soccer pyramid. It will be held in Calgary, Alberta from October 7–12, 2015. Teams Twelve teams were granted entry into the competition; one from each Canadian province, as well as one from the Northwest Territories. In addition, as the host province, Alberta is granted a second entry into the competition. Challenge Trophy
The Challenge Trophy (french: Trophée Challenge) is a national amateur soccer cup in Canada contested by the champions of individual provincial soccer competitions. It is one of the oldest soccer competitions in Canada, being held since 1913. It is run by the Canadian Soccer Association. History An unofficial Dominion championship for a trophy donated by The People newspaper of London, named the Peoples Shield, was contested from 1906–1912. Teams from all provinces did not enter the competition in each year, and it was contested by Western Canada in its last years. Edmonton Scottish
The Edmonton Scottish Soccer Club, better known as Edmonton Scottish, is a Canadian semi-professional soccer club based in Edmonton, Alberta. Competing continuously in the Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL) since 1992, the club also fields reserve squads and adult teams across several leagues within the Edmonton and District Soccer Association (EDSA). Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ " sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Newfoundland And Labrador Challenge Cup
The Newfoundland and Labrador Challenge Cup, known as the Johnson Insurance Challenge Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the premier senior men's soccer league in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The competition is held annually from May until September and is governed and organized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association. The Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL) is the highest level of amateur soccer in Alberta. It is roughly level 4 on the Canadian soccer league system, Canadian soccer pyramid although levels below 3 are not formally designated by the Canadian Soccer Association. The British Columbia Provincial Soccer Championship is a soccer tournament organized by the British Columbia Soccer Association. The tournament winner advances to the national Challenge Trophy tournament for men and Jubilee Trophy tournament for women, organized by the Canadian Soccer Association. London Marconi Soccer Club is a Canadian Association football, soccer club based in London, Ontario, that plays in the Western Ontario Soccer League. The club was founded in 1962 and originally competed in the London and District League. After several notable achievements at the amateur level, the organization joined the Canadian National Soccer League, National Soccer League (NSL) in 1984.
