2015 Canadian Figure Skating Championships
The 2015 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships were held January 19–25, 2015 in Kingston, Ontario. Organized by Skate Canada and sponsored by Canadian Tire, the event determined the national champions of Canada. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the senior, junior, and novice levels. Although the official International Skating Union terminology for female skaters in the singles category is ''ladies'', Skate Canada uses ''women'' officially. The results of this competition were among the selection criteria for the 2015 World Championships, 2015 Four Continents Championships, and the 2015 World Junior Championships. 2014–15 Figure Skating Season
The 2014–15 figure skating season began on July 1, 2014, and ended on June 30, 2015. During this season, elite skaters competed at the ISU Championship level in the 2015 European, Four Continents, World Junior, and World Championships. Other elite events included the Grand Prix series and Junior Grand Prix series, culminating in the Grand Prix Final, and the inaugural ISU Challenger Series. Season notes Beginning in the 2014–15 season, the minimum age for senior Grand Prix and senior B events increased from 14 to 15 to match the minimum age for ISU Championship events. Another rule change allows single and pair skaters to use music with lyrics in competition. Previously, they were restricted to instrumental music, including vocals without words. Piper Gilles
Piper Gilles (; born January 16, 1992) is an American-Canadian ice dancer who currently represents Canada internationally. With Paul Poirier, she is the 2021 World bronze medalist and 2022–23 Grand Prix Final champion, as well as a three-time Four Continents medalist (silver in 2014 and 2020, bronze in 2019), three-time Skate Canada International champion (2019, 2021–22), and two-time Canadian national champion (2020, 2022). Gilles and Poirier competed for Canada at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics. Charlie Bilodeau (born August 6, 1993) is a retired Canadian pair skater. With former partner Julianne Séguin, he is the 2016 Skate America champion, the 2015 World Junior silver medallist, the 2014 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, and a three-time Canadian national medallist. Liubov Ivanovna Ilyushechkina (russian: Любовь Ивановна Илюшечкина, born 5 November 1991) is a Russian-born Canadian pair skater. Ilyushechkina began competing for Canada with Dylan Moscovitch in 2014, and they were the 2017 Four Continents bronze medalists, two-time bronze medalists on the Grand Prix series, and three-time Canadian national medalists (silver in 2015 and 2017, bronze in 2016).
