2015 British Speedway Championship
The 2015 British Speedway Championship is the 55th edition of the British Speedway Championship. Tai Woffinden was the defending champion having won the title in 2013 and 2014. The competition consisted of two semi-finals and a final. Seven riders qualified from each semi-final and were joined by two nominated wildcards in the decider. The final took place in Wolverhampton on 15 June 2015 and was won by Woffinden. It was his third straight success, equalling the feat achieved by Andy Smith between 1993 and 1995. Craig Cook was second for the second year in a row, earning himself the wildcard place in the 2015 Speedway Grand Prix of Great Britain as a result. Cook had initially led the final, but Jason Garrity fell and a re-run was then required, which Woffinden won. Danny King took third place overall. British Speedway Championship
The British Speedway Championship is an annual motorcycle speedway competition open to British national speedway riders. The winner of the event becomes the British Speedway Champion. History Inaugurated in 1961 as a qualifying round of the Speedway World Championship it was open to riders from Britain and the British dominions. It was initially dominated by riders from New Zealand such as Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger because of the British Final forming part of the World Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Briggs and Mauger were multiple world champions. It was not until 1975 that the final was restricted to British riders. Countries such as Australia and New Zealand then held their own World Individual Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Carl Wilkinson (speedway Rider)
Carl Adam Wilkinson (born 16 May 1981) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career Born in Boston, England, Wilkinson started his career with the Peterborough Panthers in the Conference League in 1997 a week before his sixteenth birthday. It took another two seasons before he was awarded a regular Conference League ride when he was signed by his local club, the Boston Barracudas in 2000. Wilkinson has ridden for Great Britain at under-21 level. He won the Conference League with the Peterborough Pumas in 1997 and the Conference League KO Cup with the Boston Barracudas in 2000. He was retained by Boston for 2001, but 2002 saw him signed up by the Newport Wasps for their Premier League team, where he recorded a 4.35 average in his first season. King's Lynn Stadium
King's Lynn Stadium, also known as the Adrian Flux Arena and previously as the Norfolk Arena, is a short oval stadium situated to the south of King's Lynn on Saddlebow Road in Norfolk County, England. It currently hosts BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Car Racing, Banger racing, motorcycle speedway and is also a former greyhound racing track. Origins The stadium was constructed in 1951 on the west side of Saddlebow Road next door to a poultry farm. It originally opened for greyhound racing. Stuart Anthony Robson (born 8 November 1976 in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear) is a British motorcycle speedway rider. His brother Scott Robson also rode, as did his father John Robson. Career Stuart made his British racing debut in 1993, riding for the Newcastle Diamonds and in 32 matches he posted an average of 4.35. The following season was again with the Diamonds, where he averaged just under 5 points followed by a switch to Coventry in 1995 where he posted figures of 5.31. His 1996 season was split between Coventry and Middlesbrough, while in 1997 he joined brother Scott at the Hull Vikings in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Luke Alex Bowen (born 26 January 1986 in Harlow, Essex) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England, who rode with the Rye House Rockets in the Premier League (speedway), Premier League.
