2011 Ashfield District Council Election
The 2011 Ashfield District Council election took place on 5 May 2011 to elect members of Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, Ashfield Non-metropolitan district, District Council in Nottinghamshire, England. The whole council was up for election and the Labour Party (UK), Labour party gained overall control of the council from no overall control. Background Before the 2011 election the Liberal Democrats (UK), Liberal Democrats formed the largest group on the council and following the 2007 Ashfield Council election, 2007 election had led the council. However the Labour, Independent (politician), independent and Conservative Party (UK), Conservative councillors joined together to oust the Liberal Democrats, Labour's John Knight then became the leader of the council. 2015 United Kingdom Local Elections
The 2015 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 7 May 2015, the same day as the general election for the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. With the exception of those areas that have had boundary changes, the council seats up for election in England were last contested in the 2011 local elections. Background Elections would have been due in Northern Ireland given the previous elections to all 26 local councils in 2011, but these councils have since been scrapped and replaced by 11 super-councils, which had their inaugural elections in 2014. All registered electors (British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens) who will be aged 18 or over on the day of the election were entitled to vote in the local elections. Ben Bradley (politician)
Benjamin David Bradley (born 11 December 1989) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, since the 2017 general election. On 8 January 2018, during Prime Minister Theresa May's Cabinet reshuffle, Bradley was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party for Youth. He resigned his role on 10 July 2018 in protest against May's strategy in relation to Brexit. He is also the chairman of Blue Collar Conservatives. Bradley was a councillor on Ashfield District Council from May 2015 to September 2017. He has served on Nottinghamshire County Council since May 2017. After being elected to the House of Commons in June 2017, Bradley chose to resign from Ashfield Council whilst remaining as a Nottinghamshire county councillor. Jason Zadrozny
Jason Bernard Zadrozny (born 20 July 1980) is a British politician from the Ashfield Independents and Leader of Ashfield District Council. In 2007, he first became Leader of the Council as a Liberal Democrat, becoming the youngest council leader in the United Kingdom at that time, aged 26. Labour took back control at elections in 2009, but in 2018 Zadrozny regained the position as an Ashfield Independent. He is also a member of Nottinghamshire County Council. Early life Zadrozny was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire and is of Polish descent. He grew up in Kirkby-in-Ashfield attending Greenwood Primary School, Ashfield Comprehensive School, and West Nottinghamshire College, where he completed a BTeC National Diploma in Performance Art.
