2014–15 New Zealand Football Championship
The 2014–15 New Zealand Football Championship season (currently known as the ASB Premiership for sponsorship reasons) was the eleventh season of the NZFC since its establishment in 2004. Nine teams are involved this season, which includes the newly formed Wellington Phoenix FC Reserves, Wellington Phoenix reserve team. Auckland City FC, Auckland City and Team Wellington will represent the ASB Premiership in the 2014–15 OFC Champions League after finishing Champions and Runners-up respectively in the 2013–14 ASB Premiership, 2013–14 competition. New Zealand Football Championship
The New Zealand Football Championship ( mi, Te Whakataetae Whutupaoro a Aotearoa) was a men's association football league at the top of the New Zealand league system. Founded in 2004, the New Zealand Football Championship was the successor to a myriad of short-lived football leagues in the country, including the National Soccer League, the National Summer Soccer League and the New Zealand Superclub League. The league was contested by ten teams in a franchise system. For sponsorship reasons, the competition was known as the ISPS Handa Men's Premiership. From the 2021-22 season, it was replaced by the New Zealand National League. The seasons used to run from October through to April, and consist of an eighteen-round regular season followed by a playoff series involving the four highest-placed teams, culminating in a Grand Final. Canterbury United Dragons are a semi-professional football club from Christchurch, New Zealand. The team plays most of its matches at English Park in Christchurch, though they occasionally play in Nelson. The club last played in the ISPS Handa Premiership, the now folded top level of football in New Zealand. History The club was founded in 2002 as a conglomerate of various Christchurch area clubs, in order to form a strong team to take part in the 2002 New Zealand National Soccer League. Ramon Tribulietx Santolaya (born 20 September 1972) is a Spanish football coach and former player. Tribulietx holds the world record for the most trophies in continental competitions, winning seven straight OFC Champions League titles with Auckland City between 2011 and 2017. Playing career Born in Barcelona, Tribulietx enjoyed a low-profile playing career in New Zealand, signing for would-be North Island Soccer League champions Central United in 1999. Kiwitea Street, also known as Freyberg Field, is a multi-purpose stadium in the suburb of Sandringham in Auckland, New Zealand. It is used for football (soccer) matches and is the home stadium of both Auckland City FC and Central United. Terraced seating can accommodate 250 patrons. The stadium is named for Bernard Freyberg, 1st Baron Freyberg. Kiwitea Street was the venue of the 2007 Chatham Cup final. Sandringham, New Zealand
Sandringham is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. It is a multi-ethnic suburb with a population of over 12,000. Sandringham Village is a walk of a few hundred metres south along Sandringham Rd from the Outer Link bus route, and has a strong South Asian influence in restaurants and small supermarkets, Halal butchers and Bollywood movies. Hawke's Bay United was a professional Association football club based in Napier, New Zealand. HB United most recently played in the ISPS Handa Premiership – a semi-professional franchise based league, which ran independently of the winter club season. Local winter clubs provide the player pool for each franchise. Their home stadium is Bluewater Stadium. History Hawke’s Bay United (HBU) was founded in 2005 under the name of Napier City Soccer, as the summer entity of Central League club Napier City Rovers. In the inaugural NZFC season (2004–05), they finished 5th out of 8.
