2014–15 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 2014–15 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 34th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season started on 29 November 2014 in Ruka, Finland and ended on 15 March 2015 in Oslo, Norway. The season's biggest event is FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015. Changed results due to doping violation On 20 July 2016, Martin Johnsrud Sundby was banned from competing in ski competitions for two months by the FIS after having used an asthma medicine incorrectly during the 2014–15 season. He was also stripped of two results; a victory in 15 km C in Davos, 13 December 2014 and a third place in 25 km F Pursuit in Toblach, 8 January 2015. the latter also resulted in Sundby losing the Tour de Ski title. Due to losing a total of 616 points for the affected competitions he also lost the overall World Cup title. Dario Cologna
Dario Cologna (born 11 March 1986) is a Swiss cross-country skier. He has four overall World Cup victories, four Olympic gold medals, one World Championships gold medal and four Tour de Ski victories in his career. On 3 November 2021, he announced his retirement from cross-country skiing following the 2021–2022 season. Early life Cologna is a native Rumantsch speaker. He was born in Santa Maria Val Müstair, in the Lower Engadine, to Italian parents. His father Remo is from Val di Non in Trentino, while his mother Christine is from Stelvio/Stilfs in South Tyrol. Anders Gløersen
Anders Gloeersen ( no, Anders Gløersen, born 22 May 1986) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who has competed since 2005. He has five World Cup victories, earning four of them in the individual sprint events (2007, 2008, 2010, 2013), and one in a 15 km freestyle race in Davos (2014). He won a bronze medal in the 15 km freestyle race in Falun the next year, and replaced Sundby in the third leg of the relay. Alexey Yurevich Poltoranin ( kk, Алексей Юрьевич Полтаранин, born April 29, 1987) is a Kazakh cross-country skier who has competed at the international senior level since 2004. He has three World Cup wins, one in 2010 and two in 2013. In the 2013 World Championship in Val di Fiemme he won two bronze medals. Most of his best results are in the classic technique. Didrik Tønseth (also spelled Toenseth, born 10 May 1991) is a Norwegian cross-country skier and runner. Biography Tønset has competed in the World Cup since the 2011–12 season. He represented Norway at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun. Known for his classic technique, Tønseth proved to be equally adept at freestyle, proving this in the 30 km where he was the sole Norwegian with a shot at a medal. Sjur Røthe (born 2 July 1988) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He is a three-time World champion. Career He made his World Cup debut in March 2009 in Trondheim, but did not finish the race, and collected his first World Cup points in November 2009 in Beitostølen, with an eighteenth place. A fifteenth place in a 4 × 10 km relay race followed. He represents the sports club Voss IL, and lives in Oslo. He was diagnosed with Bekhterev's disease. Alexey Yevgenyevich Petukhov (russian: Алексей Евгеньевич Петухов; born 28 June 1983) is a Russian cross-country skier who competed between 2002 and 2019. Career His best World Cup finishes were two second places, both in sprint events in 2009, until December 2011, when he won a skate sprint in Davos, Switzerland. Petukhov also finished ninth in the sprint event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec. Sami Jauhojärvi
Sami Jauhojärvi (born 5 May 1981) is a Finnish former cross-country skier who competed between 2000 and 2017. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, he won men's team sprint with Iivo Niskanen. Germany launched a protest over the result due to a final-leg collision between Jauhojärvi and Tim Tscharnke, but it was rejected by the jury. Jauhojärvi's Finland finished fifth in the 4 x 10 km relay in Vancouver in 2010. Iivo Henrik Niskanen (born 12 January 1992) is a Finnish cross-country skier who has competed in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2011. He is a three-time Olympic champion. Career Iivo Niskanen made his individual World Cup debut on 12 March 2011, when he became 69th in a 20 km skiathlon in Lahti, Finland. He had his breakthrough at the international level when he won the 15-kilometre classic race at the 2014 under-23 World Championships in Val di Fiemme on 30 January 2014.
